Katie Stewart (katiewstewart) | 1099 comments In an attempt to join Kat on her 'Robust' thread on the Nookboards a couple of weeks ago, I applied to become a member. Today I got a reply - 'Application rejected'. No other information or explanation. Apparently, quite a few other Indie authors received a similar email today.

Have we all got horns or something?

Larry Moniz (larrymoniz) I just tried to apply. Let's see what happens. I've been a B&N author for several years and Nook for several months. If they're declining people, without cause, that may be why Nook sales aren't even in same league as Amazon. Too many forums get taken over by cliques of members and god help anyone of whom they disapprove. Same situation with some groups here on Goodreads, such as Amazon Kindle group. I was bounced for daring to say some people would rather exchange pirated copies -- something some of their members had admitted to doing.

LOL! Oh that is funny. Is the board only for authors to join?

Larry Moniz (larrymoniz) I have no idea. Probably not. Didn't mean to imply that, just that it might give me an edge if they are screening.

I'd understand them declining on the basis of authors only. But that would defeat the purpose surely? Putting readers in touch?

Katie Stewart (katiewstewart) | 1099 comments I just sent an email back asking for an explanation, but I'm not holding my breath. Maybe 'indie' is becoming a four-letter word?

Could be. You know they are a ravenous bloodthirsty bunch.

Larry Moniz (larrymoniz) Frankly, I've become even more disenchanted lately with B&N, the complexities of its online operations and lack of sales there compared to elsewhere. If they're so sensitive about their forum clientelle, my personal attitude is to find places that prefer to have me. B&N, already in financial difficulties, seems to be on the skids. It's only going to get worse with the new Amazon tablet for under $300 that's reportedly planned for introduction this autumn.

K.A. Jordan (kajordan) | 3042 comments WAIT! Before you write them off!

The site changed hands a couple of weeks ago. You may have been caught in the middle of the transfer.

I would suggest you try again.

I've found Nookboards to be a much better place to advertise than Kindle - it is more affordable and I'm glad to say that it's friendlier.

Can somebody give me a URL to Kat's thread on Nookboards please.

I searched there and could find neither "Jordan" nor "robust", despite knowing that I've mentioned Kat's book and the ROBUST group there in the past...

message 11: by K.A. (new)

K.A. Jordan (kajordan) | 3042 comments I was messing with it and deleted it.

I wanted to give it a better name that "Robust WRiters Meet here."

Got any suggestions?

Nothing wrong with your first choice, Kat, except perhaps that "Robust writers meet here" is a bit misleading if it is an invitation to us rather than to anyone outspoken who may or may not lurk on the Nookboards. Try this "ROBUST writers meet here" and see how you go.
