Dan in AZ | 2960 comments 1. Sunburn, Laurence Shames. Mix of new characters and some from Florida Straits. Not as funny as first book but still entertaining.

2. Hell Is Empty, Craig Johnson. Lots of woo woo as Longmire chases escaped convicts in Bighorn mountains.

3. Tropical Depression, Laurence Shames. More wild characters populate Key West and find new ways to get in trouble and out of it.

4. The Sixth Man, David Baldacci. Plot had promise, but characters were boilerplate and dialogue wasn't the greatest.

5. Scavenger Reef, Laurence Shames. Same setting - Key West - but almost all new characters in this one.

6. The confession, John Grisham. Diatribe against capital punishment - especially in Texas. Good story and characters.

7. Buried Secrets, Joe finder. Way out plot and Nick Heller isn't my favorite character.

8. Virgin Heat, Laurence Shames. Starting to wear a little thin, but I'll read the last two in this Key West series.

9. The Fifth Witness, Michael Connelly. Mickey Haller defends against a murder charge revolving around a mortgage foreclosure. Good court room action.

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9490 comments Somebody's been busy reading! I enjoyed The Fifth Witness although it bogged down a little with the courtroom detail, which I usually enjoy. I'll have to check out The Confession if you liked it.

Marcy | 865 comments Good month, Dan. I also read Buried Secrets this month but I enjoy Nick Heller. I think you either like him or not - nothing middle of the road with him. I have The Confession on reserve. I didn't especially like the last Grisham I read, but I've heard really good things about this one.

I agree with both of you! I do like Nick Heller, but the far fetched plot in Buried Secrets bothered me. This was my least fav Joseph Finder book.

BarryP (barrypz) | 3498 comments Based on Shames characterization, one would think Key West is all mobsters and gays, not that I have been there to see. I'm sure there must be some Hemmingways tossed in there somewhere.

If you mean drunken eccentrics, I'm sure you're right.
