I agree with both of you! I do like Nick Heller, but the far fetched plot in Buried Secrets bothered me. This was my least fav Joseph Finder book.

The Fifth Witness (other topics)
2. Hell Is Empty, Craig Johnson. Lots of woo woo as Longmire chases escaped convicts in Bighorn mountains.
3. Tropical Depression, Laurence Shames. More wild characters populate Key West and find new ways to get in trouble and out of it.
4. The Sixth Man, David Baldacci. Plot had promise, but characters were boilerplate and dialogue wasn't the greatest.
5. Scavenger Reef, Laurence Shames. Same setting - Key West - but almost all new characters in this one.
6. The confession, John Grisham. Diatribe against capital punishment - especially in Texas. Good story and characters.
7. Buried Secrets, Joe finder. Way out plot and Nick Heller isn't my favorite character.
8. Virgin Heat, Laurence Shames. Starting to wear a little thin, but I'll read the last two in this Key West series.
9. The Fifth Witness, Michael Connelly. Mickey Haller defends against a murder charge revolving around a mortgage foreclosure. Good court room action.
