I was just curious what percentage of this group is strictly readers and who is a writer as well?

I'm a reader. It might be easier to do this as a poll. Funny thing is I was wondering what age ranges we cover!

I used to write short stories and poems. But now I would term myself a reader. Most of my spare time is taken up with guitar playing.

I'm mainly a reader but I do like to write poetry now and then.

I'm mostly a reader at the moment but I do have a few stories I am working on as well.

Very avid reader and even more avid writer! I have a self-published book available through my website and a young adult fantasy published by Asylett Press, with a third one on the way shortly.

I'm a reader but write short stories now and then, as a hobby. I think heavy reading also makes many people interested to write too. At least, my strong interest to read made me start writing when I was a child.

Definitely a reader. I did get through my english lit classes with honors but writing is not my favorite thing to do.

I read a lot but I also write a lot. I feel like I'm equal parts.

I'm an IndieAuthor specializing in Self-Publishing topics and historical fiction. It will be interesting to see the ratio mix of writer/readers to purist readers.

I'm a reader and writer. To be a successful writer, you have to be a reader, so I read as much as I can, but spend a lot of time writing, as well.

I am both. I have a passion for writing and I've published two of my eight books. I've been writing for as long as I can remember. In addition to novels, poetry, short stories, lyrics to songs, articles on health and fitness, and way back when I had a task force called BlockAIDS, I wrote a slew of articles on awareness for, of all people, The Junior League of Chicago. (Like so many of us, they were assuredly wearing blinders back in the 80's.)Let's see...I was a speech major at the University of Puget Sound, and wrote speeches to give at clubs like Kiwanis. Then I moved back to the Bay Area and was a playwright major at Cal Berkeley. Doesn't sound like much time for reading, right? But yes, I treasure the quiet hours I have to read also. There are not as many of them as the hours I devote to writing (and now as an author being required to promote my work...not my favorite part), but I do cherish a good book. I liked your comment. Let's keep on reading AND writing! After all, the two hobbies naturally support each other.

I'm definitly a passionate reader, but I also write a story at a moment (beside my work, my friends, my hobbies und reading books)... And when I finish it/ if I finish it, it will be a love story (suprise *lol*)

I am definitely a reader. I just think that writing isn't my thing. I might try it out one day (in a far-far-far-away future) but right now I'm just concentrating on school, while reading still remains my hobby.

I am an avid reader and freelance writer and journalist. Have published many articles on various topic and edited an anthology of short stories and an anthropology book.

Reader

i am just a reader, but do wish i had the capability to write, which i tried to but did not have the patience to think over new ideas.

Reading is probably one of my only (many) hobbies I've never dropped. Others, like writing, I drop and pick up again so many times. Am writing again at the moment, though!

Love to read and write. But lately, the passion to write cramps my reading time!
Tina, once the ideas start popping up, they usually feed themselves.
Cammie, keep your elementary school stories both for sentimental sake and maybe putting them into a book later for your grandchildren. :)

to join in again... I'm a passionate reader, but with all this unhappy ending I really got frustrated lately and so I started to write my own story a few months ago. At the moment I have put it aside, because I got some problems in the story and now I've also stared to write a blog. But I think my blog about my reviews of books is good a 'workout' for to learn to phrase parts or to change them more nicely after re reading it. And maybe this year or the next I'll finish my story.
