Brenna Lyons (BrennaLyons) | 87 comments I've got a lot of YA authors I really like.

To review and interview, I highly suggest...

Kathryn Sullivan
Gloria Oliver (especially the VASSAL OF EL)
Michelle Levigne

The big names that you can ask for an interview, but might not get it...

Scott Westerfeld
Steven Gould
Erin Hunter
Christopher Paolini (probably spelled his name wrong)
Eoin Colfer
Cornelia Funke

Adult authors that have moved to YA as well...
Sherrilyn Kenyon's Chronicles of Nick and Manga
Neil Gaiman (Coraline)

You can look at the summaries for both my books, Vampires Rule and Crushed. Let me know if you'd like to review one of them. I can give you the Smashwords link and a coupon code. At the moment my own computer is down so I can't send a pdf, but you can get whatever format you want at Smashwords. If that doesn't work for you, we can wait until my computer is fixed and I can send you a copy.

message 9: by Robert (new)

Robert Collins I don't know if this would be up your alley, but here's some info on my new short novel, "True Friends."

It’s the fall of 1983. David Chalmers is a high school senior who hangs around with a group of fellow science-fiction fans, but feels few attachments to them. Alison Hughes runs with the popular crowd, but she’s as smart as she is pretty, and wonders if they’re becoming predictable.

Over the course of a few weeks events will cause David and Alison to think about what it means to be friends. Are friends just people you spend time with? What does it mean when you’re someone’s friend? Why should any of that be important?

"Lisa's Way" might also be of interest, but I don't have the new edition out yet. Thanks!

message 10: by Simbarashe (new)

Simbarashe Simbarashe | 2 comments Hi Rachel!

Collette told me about your looking for YA authors! My name is Simbarashe and I have published two books in a trilogy called The Matadors. The first book in the series is called Veronasongs and you may like it.

Veronasongs is about a 14 year-old called Donica; she is gifted and loves to write. She befriends an older classmate who also loves to write and they spend their days writing in their diaries together. But one day his diary is stolen and finds its way into Donica's possession. She must figure a safe way to return it to him but finds herself reading it at the same time. While this seems like a very basic plot outline the book is so much deeper than this, it is about an entire community in the way they celebrate and then discard a girl as if she were just a commodity.

I wrote "The Heart of the Curse" for my daughter when we were homeless. It has a lot of the issues we dealt with at them time, minus the ghost!!! It's fiction with a hint of reality.

Cheri | 9 comments Hi Rachel,

Your mum already requested my books to review them. Should I send a copy in the package for you too? It would save me on shipping and I waited to ship hers so I could drop book 2 in the same package. It's a surprise, so don't tell her. ;)

However, if you'd like the mobi format, I could get that to you now.

Let me know as soon as possible because the package is ready to ship now.

Cheers,
Cheri Schmidt
PS: I already did an interview with your mum too. I didn't check, but if the questions are different I could answer yours. Or you could just snag the interview from her.

message 26: by Kevin (new)

Kevin Ranson (kevinaranson) | 17 comments Hello, I'm Kevin A. Ranson, and I just released the second book, The Terminal People, in my YA horror series called The Spooky Chronicles.

Still growing up as a dead boy, "Spooky" Spencer Lawson is learning about the strange world he never asked to be a part of (which is a lot more interesting than math). When a mysterious stranger he meets in an alley appears to die after touching Spooky's hand, Spooky begins to wonder how dangerous he really is, especially to the people he cares about.

This is the follow up to the first book in the series called The Crooked Man.

The story follows a child on his death bed visited by a mysterious "crooked man" who returns him to the land of the living. Upon returning, the young boy realizes that his mother was taken in his place and that he must endure his new life as a "dead" boy.

N.B. Dixon | 61 comments I am hoping to release my Young adult Fantasy novel 'Sacrifice' very soon. I have no release date just yet but here is the blurb. I'd be happy to include it in a give away if it's out in time and any review would be welcome. I'm blind, and I write using a speech software programme. Here is the blurb.

For nearly 200 years, Lysander has roamed the world, preying on humans and supernatural beings alike. His exploits are legendary and even his fellow vampires are wary of him, but his reign of terror may be drawing to an end.

When Lysander contracts a fatal disease through drinking infected blood, he learns that the only cure is the blood of a human willingly given. Lysander believes he may have found such a person in Karen Foster, but gaining her trust won’t be easy. He must contend with a society that has hunted supernatural creatures for centuries and Lysander is enemy number one. A confrontation is inevitable and Lysander knows only one thing for certain. Not everyone can emerge from such an encounter alive.

Here is the blurb: A missing boy, government agents, an interdimensional portal...

Mia has one goal for her senior year at Whispering Woods High—find her missing older brother. But when her science project reveals a portal into another dimension, she learns that travelers are moving in and out of her woods in the most alarming way and government agents Regulus and Arizona are policing their immigration. Mia’s drawn to the mysterious, aloof Regulus, but it’s no time for a crush. She needs to find out what they know about her brother, while the agents fight to save the world from viral contamination. But when Regulus reveals that he knows Mia’s secrets, she begins to wonder if there’s more going on than she thought...and if she was wrong to trust him...

Please let me know if you'd like to review. I'd also be happy to do an interview!

Thanks,

Emmalee Aple (EmmaleeAple) | 21 comments If you are still interested in reviewing YA, I just released my debut novel, Neophyte .

A brief summary:
Addisyn White thought she had her new life, her after life, all figured out. Granted death had not brought her to the pearly white gates, she hadn’t even left Earth. But death had its perks; she got to live forever with her best friend and her assigned Link of Angels, in a beautiful beach house. Even with the changes she was going through to turn her human body into an angelic one, everything seemed pretty easy. Until a gray winged angel comes into her life, then all the secrets and lies her Link had been keeping start crumbling away, exposing a whole new world of dangers she didn’t even know about.

Now Addisyn must fill in the blanks before things escalate too far. Will she save her Link? Or will she be buried in their secrets forever?

I would love to have you review it!

Jess Petosa | 13 comments Rachel,

I have a YA book out that I think you would enjoy. If you are still looking for books to review, I would love to send you a copy.

Exceptional

"In the future, things are anything but ordinary..."

In 2022, the United States commissioned a group of scientists to experiment with genetic mutations. Their goal was to create a serum that would alter the human genetic code, making the subject stronger and faster. They succeeded but their victory was short lived. Not only had they created a super serum, but also an airborne virus. By 2025, seventy-five percent of the world's population had perished. The survivors, well their lives would never be the same.

175 A.V.

Ally is an Ordinary; a human immune to the virus. She lives in a settlement outside the City with her mother and twin brother, but lately it doesn't seem to be enough. She is wrestling between being with her family and volunteering to move to the City, where she can work for the Exceptionals.

Luke is an Exceptional; a superior human being. His ancestors were infected with the virus and lived through it, leaving their super human strength and special abilities to him. He has never given much thought to Ordinarys, despite pressure from his father to choose one from the ORC. But all of that changes when he meets Ally...
