#1 Create a blog: it is better than a website because you can update it often. Post a variety of topics to attract different viewers.

#2 Create a book trailer: post a short trailer about your book on youtube. You can also embed it to your blog or website (under the share tab).

#3 Create a facebook fan page: share your page with all your facebook friends through the recommend feature.

#4 Create a twitter account: post interesting bits about your book and other topics related to your writing. Gain followers through #FF and other twitter functions.

#5 Create a google+ account: add people to your circles with interests similar to your book (such as "fantasy reading" or "quilting"). Do this by searching for a topic while on the profile tab.

#6 Create a Author Central account: once your book is on Amazon be sure to update your amazon author central account.

#7 Create accounts on any other social outlets you plan to be active on: My Space, or Tumblr.

#8 Get active on some forums: find forums related to your book's topic and get to know people on it.

#9 Get active on some groups: find groups on Yahoo! or other websites to meet people interested in similar topics.

#10 Meet other authors who can help you: I can introduce you to a few. :) Find me on Facebook.

Any other authors have ideas to add?
