Great reviews, everyone. It's wonderful to see your enthusiasm for books and how to use them across the curriculum to encourage young children to read.

This is my review of

I wish I was a Witch. By Dug Spencer.
This book is about a girl who wishes she was a witch so she can do things that witches would do, such as casting spells for everything she wants, flying in the sky on her broom and towards the end she wishes she can have a great big party and conjure up a GREAT BIG CAKE. For the cake the book has a lovely jigsaw in the back where the girl and her friends are all dressed up in their fancy dress costumes and looking at the huge cake.
A lovely story to read when looking at characters such as witches. Also children can role play different characters and pretend to create and cast their own spells on things they want to wish for. The jigsaw is great in developing children’s fine motor skills and working together.

This is a great book full of nursery rhymes. I used it myself in my nursery practice to remember some rhymes. The book also contains some rhymes relating to bears such as the bears on the bus. In Early Years you can relate the rhymes and change them to your theme or different animals. The illustration in the book is also great to look at and can be used to talk about what the rhymes are about.
