Frostbitten
question
is it a stand alone?
Essentially yes.
There's a bit of backstory you loose and a few side characters mentioned, but for the most part these books are pretty much self-contained.
(I think there was a small overlap to the previous Elena book - Broken - but nothing big.)

You can read it as a stand alone, but the entire series is well worth reading and you might as well start at the beginning- Bitten. That's IMO.
Personally, loved the whole sereies. Yes, there are some books I lean towards more than I do the others as I do with all series, but as Gerd said, all the Elena books are a must. Can't wait to see what she does with the last book in the series though.
I too loved the whole series.. When i find a book that is part of a series and it catches my attention.. i am compelled to read the others before and after in order. I have already preordered thirteen. so excited and a little sad
It is a stand alone book. Ayny back story you miss is recapped in this book. In fact there is so much recapping in this series in general it becomes annoying.
