Suggestions please

Otherwise...
Blood on the Tracks & Blonde on Blonde - Bob Dylan
Born to Run & Greetings from Asbury Park - Bruce Springsteen
It's Too Late to Stop Now - Van Morrison
Get Your Ya-Yas Out - Rolling Stones
And because I just listened to it: They Only Come Out at Night - Edgar Winter Group
The list could really go on for a long time.

I also want to get the Rolling Stones album that has Paint it Black. I don't remember which one it was off the top of my head.

If you want to continue on with your stoned and hygenically-questionable 70's New York motif, like the first three you listed here, why not try:
The New York Dolls
The Dictators
Television
Richard Hell & The Voidoids
Jim Carroll Band

Also, you can't go wrong with Roky Erickson."

If you would like me to send you some shebangs just message me your address.

Nope, still in the same place Barb.
Since Clark mentioned mid-70s New York scene music, I thought I'd through in some favorites from the UK, same time period, in case you don't own any of these.
Elvis Costello and the Attractions, My Aim is True and This Year's Model.
Joe Jackson, Look Sharp! and I'm the Man
Ian Dury and the Blockheads, Sex & Drugs & Rock n' Roll
By the way, there are several albums on this list I own (not surprising at all), and I'd be happy to burn you a CD or 2 with all those albums in MP3 format. Let me know.

On occasion, Clark, on occasion. I only brought those up because those 3 acts seem to be on my heavy rotation lately, so they're ripe for recommendation. Plus, that Ian Dury biopic, starring Andy Serkis, is on cable these days, but I haven't gotten around to watching it. I hear Serkis does a phenomenal Ian Dury impersonation.

Suggestions, anyone? Janine? Anyone?

"Novacaine for the Soul"
"Susan's House"
"Beautiful Freak"
"Hey Man (Now You're Really Livin')"
"It's a Motherfucker"
"I Like Birds"

Daisies is my favorite too.

Yes you can. One song is more than enough for me.

Pump It Up, Elvis Costello
Melancholy Baby, Al Bowlly
Wee Small Hours, Frank Sinatra
Peg O My Heart, Dropkick Murphys
The Definitive Collection, Buddy Holly

You just have newer batteries in your beacon.
I love bacon too!

I'm going to hijack this thread. None of you will be released until you tell me what to read with these kids. I want short stories, short, gripping paperbacks.
Most of all I want graphic novel suggestions.
Most of all I want graphic novel suggestions.
Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic is a really good graphic novel. Although depending on your school district, it might be a banned book.
Yeah, I don't see that going over too well here. One of my favorite books ever, though, Lg. I wrote it into my Master's project.

The Arrival - one of my favorite books ever
Stitches
La Perdida (can't remember if it's kid friendly)
Life Sucks
Epileptic
American Born Chinese
Pyongyang: A Journey in North Korea
Black Hole
The Photographer: Into War-Torn Afghanistan with Doctors Without Borders (also excerpted in last year's Best American Nonrequired Reading)
Will Eisner's New York: Life in the Big City: New York, The Building, City People Notebook, Invisible People
The Complete Persepolis
The Eternal Smile: Three Stories
Shooting War

Yay! I forgot where I had hijacked!
Charly, I had thought about O Henry earlier in the semester, great suggestion. And yes yes yes, The Arrival! Perfect! I think Maids will be great with my 7 th graders.
I have all grades, seventh to seniors.

But there's so much out there, both old and new I just don't know where to start. Give me suggestions people! What should I listen to? I'm sure I could cull plenty from the "top fives" and "top tens," but I want to know what you're spinning lately and what's worth checking out.
