Today I'm watching TV coverage of the 10th Anniversary of the "nine-eleven" attack on the WTC in NYC. I like the placement of the two reflecting pools in the footprints of the Twin Towers. The pools go down deep; water cascades down the sides. Very dramatic... somehow very meaningful. All sorts of metaphors are possible with this image. I'm trying to think of some but nothing is coming to mind. Perhaps we'll hear or see some clever observations along this line.

I googled just now and found the following webpage with the following headline:

Yes, the deep pools can be a symbol of the empty spaces left in people's lives by the deaths of their loved ones on Nine-One-One. Good metaphor.
