Melissa (mjkirkland) I hope no one in the SI group is offended by the appearance of this thread.

This is a place to post about anything, except promotions of your book--there is a place for that elsewhere in the group.

Melissa (mjkirkland) Of course, you must have assumed something gave me the idea that we could use such a thread. Yes, I had an ulterior motive. I've just created a new group about enjoying great food.

If you consider yourself a cook, or a gourmand, and if you like to talk about fine foods, fine wines, best restaurants in your area, cook books, cooking related periodicals and fresh whole foods, check out the new group Cakes and Ale.

Melissa (mjkirkland) That's me. *avoiding eye contact and smirking*

Cheryl (cherylllr) Looks like a great group for the right people - too bad I don't qualify.

So, I guess that means I can promote my two groups,

More than Just a Rating and

Fans of Maps.

The latter has more members, but is actually quite quiet. I'd love more activity. We also talk geocaching, travel and armchair travel, etc., but we try to focus on cartography and related topics.

The former is about writing reviews, especially goodreads styles of reviews, for members with any level of experience or degree of interest. It's a pretty new group and is still lively.

Melissa (mjkirkland) Cheryl, I'm glad to see that you started a group for review writing. I followed a discussion about this in GR Feedback--is that what instigated the group? Glad you posted it up here, because I think I'll join!

Jago (jagovansoom) | 3 comments Hey,

I'm looking for this book of which I forgot the title (poor me). A genetics professor of mine told me it was about the story behind the Human Genome Project. Perhaps somebody knows the book? I'm looking for it for 2years now :)

Kenny Chaffin (kennychaffin) Difficult to say, but try some of these:

Cheryl (cherylllr) Melissa, yes, I caved - so many people in Feedback wanted help with reviews that I started the group. Please join!

Ibis3 | 23 comments Hi folks. I'm looking for someone who can help me help my nephew. It's been about 2 decades since I took math or science in school and though I didn't do too badly, I don't really remember it all that well. My nephew is taking an online course in grade 12 physics and I think I'll be able to help him out quite a bit if I can do a refresher ahead of him. But there are some things that I don't recall or might need some assistance with. Is there anyone out there willing to be a go-to physics buddy for me to ask the odd question or clarify some things if I'm not sure about something in the lessons?

Patricrk patrick | 136 comments Its been 4 decades since I took any. Here might be a good site for review. They have a bunch of video's on physics topics if you browse the list. I'm always willing to hear the questions but can't promise to know any answers.

Ibis, I could help with occasional questions about physics.

I'd like to take a shot at helping out with high school physics problems. I know something about electronics and even remember some mechanics.

Later, John.
