I'm not a huge fan of him to be honest. I liked the twins better.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the next book, if anything, with Obi.

I'm more curious about the angel politics and why some of them didn't seem to know what was going on. Also the messenger position that seemed to open up. That was curious. I'm also wondering about Paige's role in future books.

Yes. They seemed pretty clueless, except for a couple. My guess is (view spoiler)[there will be an attempt to take over heaven or some kind of power struggle outside of hell. (hide spoiler)] As for Paige, (view spoiler)[ I think Penryn will have to kill her. She knows she's not her little sister any longer, although Paige retains some remnant of her previous self. It'll be a heartbreaker. Kill her or kill others to feed her, just like the couple Penryn stumbled up with the half-eaten little girls. Moral dilemma. *sigh* (hide spoiler)]

@AH...(view spoiler)[For all we know, the angel that created them knew the "piranhas'" names. It just so happened Penryn called Paige's name first. Why else keep the pile of children? It would seem the evil angels were creating killing machines in their effort to exterminate humans. They are like innocent-faced little grenades. It would explain why the children were disappearing. I love the theories about the (view spoiler)[ the children. I too think they were being used as killing machines. I also think Uriel is very smart and he's killing two birds with one stone - he's not only creating weapons using the kids but his ultimate intent was to discredit/destroy Raffe by creating what the angels thought where nephilim. I think (and I have to go back and re-read it) that Josiah mentioned something about Raffe and the Watchers being the only ones who have ever seen Nephilim. And as Uriel said to Beliel, how do the angels truly know that Raffe killed the Nephilim?

I also wonder if it was Uriel's minions who possibly killed Gabriel. I don't remember reading that Gabriel was necessarily killed by humans, just that he was gunned down on TV. So what if Uriel took the opportunity of war in order to make it appear as if the humans killed Gabriel when in reality the shooter was really an angel? (hide spoiler)]

I thought that (view spoiler)[the children were being used to undermine Raffe since he was supposedly responsible for monitoring the Nephilim, remember, there were some Angels, the ones that didn't know about the lab, that thought the killings were being done by nephilim. (this may not be exactly right but I do remember something like this) and this would be a way for Uriel to usurp and discredit Raffe. There's probably more to it than that but, those are my thoughts :-) (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I think Penny is something...a nephilim, an angel already, or something. Why is she able to handle the sword? I know, Raffe said the sword is smart, but still...at the end, it only recognized her and her alone. I also think the mom is something...a messenger? Idk, but something... I am with AH. Paige isn't long for this world, I think she is a goner. Raffe seems like he has so much integrity at he wouldn't be able to break the angel code unless Penny is already an angel in disguise. It is a long shot, but that is what I am hoping for... The angels don't know what is going on...somebody is crooked. Josiah was my favourite among the minor characters. I found him so cute. I hope the next book will tell why he is so... odd, kinda.

As for Gabriel, (view spoiler)[I kinda think that the experiments concerning the children might have to do with his resurrection of sorts. Maybe he actually was shot, be it by humans or angels, and the angels recovered his body. (hide spoiler)] Concerning Paige, I have to agree with Anna. I think this whole sister dxnamics is much more carefully handled than in, say The Hunger Games, where Katniss seldom thinks about Prim as long as she and Rue are both out of sight. Penryn's relationship with Paige is so strong and intense in comparison and I think Susan is the kind of author who would not let a Deus ex Machina happen just for a fluffy rosy ending. If (view spoiler)[Paige will live, though (hide spoiler)], there will be a good explanation, I'm sure.
I'm also interested in Mengele's, err, Laylah's alignment and what she does. And then there was Obi and his freedom fighters. So much going on! Sides for everybody!
