Desperately seeking a series like this one...
Etough Etough Sep 19, 2011 05:25PM
I am absolutely in love with this series and have been searching all over the place for a series I can get into like this one. I loved the fey...I loved Barrons, and I thought this book had just the perfect amount of sex, violence, action and romance. Help me please!!

OKay, I have a few reccomendations for you then! I loved this series and was mad there haven't been anymore~ But at least Shaedowfever was super long right??!!

The Riley Jensen Guardian Series by Keri Arthur
Myth and Magic Series Keri Arthur
The Sookie Stackhouse series by Charline Harris
The Law of the Lycans by Nicky Charles
Those are a few of my favs and I was going to suggest Succubus Blues but I see that you have already read those! Did you read the new one? It just came out thismonth Succubus Revealed its the last one!!! boo! Good luck!

And KMM is writing a total of 5 more books in the Fever World...YAY

I read it almost a year ago and I am still looking for a series that compares =) My daughter read it and said, "The Fever Series makes other books go sit in the corner and cry." ;)
I really enjoyed First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson #1)
by Darynda Jones. And can't wait for the third book. It's funnier than Fever. The author has a really neat way with words/ideas and a great sense of humor. Loved the characters.
After looking at your read list, I think you might also like Immortals After Dark by Kresley Cole and The Demonica series by Larissa Ione
The third one hasn't come out yet, so I hesitate to recommend this one but.. Storm Born (Dark Swan, #1) by Richelle Mead is also another one of my favorites.
Good luck! And if you find a good one, please let us know.

There is nothing quite like the Darkfever series! It is certainly not the best literature in the world, in fact for me it is a guilty pleasure, but it drew me in so much that I was constantly thinking about the stories and characters even when I was not reading. The other series that did the same thing to me was the Twilight series, also not the greatest writing in the world, but even though it is a YA series,it also sucked me in the same way as Darkfever did.

Don't know if you guys have tried Vampire academy series by Richelle Mead. It's young adult fiction but it's amazing , I love dark fever series but I fell in love with Vampire academy as well, it's worth a try. Enjoy reading it.

Unholy Ghost, I needed a fix after the Fever Series ended and I am going through this series by Stacia Kane equally as fast. I am also reading the Night Huntress series and like it as well but the Unholy Ghost series is PHENOMINAL!

I just discovered the Fae Chronicles series Fighting Destiny, Taunting Destiny which are a good stop gap until the next KMM comes out.

You should try laurell k Hamilton Meredith Series, also about human and fey/faries. I really like them and I love KMM's books, even the Highlander ones, as they are sort of related to these, esp BK 5

There's so many good series out there. Many are listed above. Another really good series is by Kim Harrison called "The Hollows".

Loved the series, if you go to KMM's website she has a 20 min recorded excerpt from Barron's perspective and it is delicious! I believe it is $1 and you get the audio and the written, but just play when your not around young ears as it is wonderfully graphic.

Try the Dark Hunter Series by Sherylin Kenyon and the the Black Dagger Brotherhood by J. R. Ward. Out of those two the Dark Hunter series was my favorite. I have read the fever series over a few times. I think I learn something new every time I re-read them

I heard the the writer decided to write a sequel for this series another 2 books :))
I think it will be amazing !

Many of the suggestions from everyone I have read but some I have not! Im excited about looking at the books that were new to me! If anyone has any other suggestions based on the books I have read that would be great!
It seems like some of the books/series other people loved I didn't but for the most part I have really like all the books others have suggested.

You should really try Jeaniene Frost - Night Huntress series. It's AWESOME !!!
Also, Mercy Thompson series is really good.

These Paranormal Romances I find would make great contenders:

The Kate Daniels Series by Ilona Andrews
Mercy Thompson Series by Patricia Briggs
The Night Huntress Series by Jeaniene Frost

I've read other series but these three stand out.

Obsidian (Lux, #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

this book is my second fav next to fever series...
it has romance good action and arrogant male lead and sarcasm...
u shud totally try this...u might like it :)

I really dug this I didn't see this on the list, and I think it's because the author isn't as popular.. but I think one of the closest things I came across was the Dark Swan Series.. and I read the Highlander Series, all the Carpathian series (which is my favorite but not quite the same pace as Fever was), and many more. The Dead River Series wasn't too bad either in comparisonStorm BornThorn QueenIron CrownedShadow HeirFreedom's GateFreedom's ApprenticeFreedom's Sisters

Just finished the 5th book in the series and I feel empty.... I don't even know if I want to start reading another series to try and replicate the feelings I had when I was reading this Fever series- it was so epic. I will miss Barrons/Mac (especially Barrons) until I re-read the series.

Would just like to say that the actor Manu/Jon Bennett would make an amazing Barrons if it ever went to tv/movie. Yum x 28765

Here's a new author I stumbled upon who I LOVE!!!!----Nicola Claire's Kindred series. Not quite as dark but still gritty urban fantasy feel. Her. Lore world weaving is imaginative but believable at the same time! I'm kind of dying for someone else to take a chance on this series! Need someone to talk about it with:)

i cant think of any other series that can match Moning's Fever by feel or texture. (Jericho Barrons is the hottest hero you can get). this is such a special series that i consider it as my favorite ever. but i also enjoyed The League Series by Sherrilyn Kenyon and Alien Huntress by Gena Showalter(my next fave yay!)

Ravenstoke is a wonderful novel with loads of charter development picturesque settings and a unique fantasy world. This is not on the same story line as kmm writes but if epic fantasy/romance is what you are looking for I think you will be pleased.Ravenstoke Forging the Way

The Fever series is probably my all time favourite but yesterday I read a new book which could be the start of another great series. The hero is very Barrons-like to me and some of the later scenes between the hero and heroine are very hot (more explicit that the Fever books). Can't wait for the next one. The book is Fighting Destiny (The Fae Chronicles #1) by Amelia Hutchins.

I'm surprise no one mentioned Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. I thought this series is comparable to Fever. I love them both.

I loved the fever series. So I'll list the other series that I liked and hope some are ones you can try

Have you read the rest of Karen Marie Monings books, I LOVE THEM!!!!!!

Nalini Singh psy/changeling series i just finished all of them again so i could read the new one. AMAZING!!

JR Ward, anything by her!! and I do mean anything

Gena Showalter, the Lords of the Underworld

Rachelle Meads, Vampire Academy is a good recommendation

Cassandra Clares, Immortal Instruments, or Infernal Devices

But a story with great villains, humor, amazing story and they get better as they go, which is even harder to find. I suggest the Hallows series by Kim Harrison. Amazing series, and the villains? they are aplenty, Trent is my favorite!
Happy reading!!!

Not much touches the greatness of the Fever series... BUT, you should check out the Tairen Soul series by C.L. Wilson.
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/15...
there are 5 books - the series is finished but i've read there may be some spin-offs in the future. i'm halfway through book #4 and it's been a very enjoyable read so far. well written with a large cast of nicely developed characters. You get paranormal romance with an epic fantasy feel - elemental magic, mages, elves, shape-shifters, truemates, soul bonding and FAE (yay) - what more can you want? AND, there is a Barrons-esque alpha male character named Rain - Rain Tairen Soul, Defender of the Fey. the character brushes the barrons surface but is missing that insane tension and mystery that had me on the edge of my seat through every Fever book. Still a great super fun read and one that i would definitely recommend.

I also second the October Daye series: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/62...

Barrons is certainly one of a kind. Valek from Snyder's Study series is very similar if you haven't read those yet!

I would recommend The Disillusionists Trilogy by Carolyn Crane. But in the end, nothing beats The Fever series.

I liked the Chicagoland Vamps series by Chloe Neill - 4 books out right, but the 4th has a cliff-hanger - not as bad as the shadowfever one, but still sucky

Have you read Nalini Singh's Angels' Blood and the Guild Hunter series? I just finished the 4th, which wasn't my favorite but still a good read. The other main books were excellent! I'd also love a book with a hero like Barrons or Raphael.

o.O It's going to be really hard to compare anything else to the Fever Series...but I have been looking too...good suggestions.

These are not as good... but try the Sookie Stackhouse Series by Charlaine Harris. Also, the new series by Darynda Jones- First Grave on the Right (#1). The Lili St. Crow 'Strange Angels' series is good but has younger characters. It's similar to Twilight and the fight scenes are fantastic. It has a strong female lead. The Anita Blake-Vampire Hunter series by Laurell Hamilton is good. Just try the 1st in each series to see if you like them. There is nothing else like the Fever Series... :(

If you aren't dead set on having the sci-fi edge that the Fever series has I'd try the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. There's some time travel, romance, decent plot and lots of very big books in the series that should keep you occupied for awhile.

the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs is a fun
series as well, lots of action, great sexual tension,
FYI: did you KMM is writing a spin off series with Danni
Christian, and a few others we love from the fever series.

I loved this series!!!! my second fav series with a reoccuring couple (like Mac and Barrons) is:
Night Huntress by Jeaniene Frost.

Other paranormal romance series' that I'm in love (continual story-arcs with a different couple featured in each book but reoccuring characters) with that have alpha male heroes like Barrons in each book and Happily-ever-after endings are:

Black Dagger Brotherhood series (J. R. Ward)
Dark Hunters series (Sherylin Kenyon)

author name spelling may be wrong :S
On my TBR list are:
Midnight Breed series
Lords of the Underworld series
Demonica series

UPDATE: I'm currently reading Midnight Breed series, I"m on book 6. Its gotten a lot better, I started liking it around book three. I couldn't stand book 1 even though its about 2 of my fav characters because of how EXACTLY the plot mirrored BDB. But I found that in the 2nd book, it started to develop its own world better and by the 3rd, it held its own quite solidly. Now I'm just inhaling them (I read 3 of them yesterday!) lol

If you haven't read A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness you should definitely check it out. the second one is coming out this July so don't know if the same pace will be kept or not, but the book totally kept me engrossed for a couple of days...

Desperately seeking another character like Barrons. Still isn't there going to be more books set in the Fever universe?

Delaney Yes there is a continuation of this series, starting with iced and the new one comes out sometime this year i think. If you want a villian/hero you lo ...more

I've tried nearly all the ones mentioned, and agree that some were really good. But for me, none had that panicky desperate feeling of anticipation for the next installment that I had with Fever. Until - Stacia Kane's Downside Ghosts series. Creeepy dark world, tough but effed up heroine, scary but addictive hero. The tension between the h/H is off the charts, and reminds me of the Mac/JZB angst. It's awesome. The first book, Unholy Ghostsis 99 cents for Kindle, a great price to try it out.

Ahh Barons - there really is no other character quite like him, is there? :) He's just so delicious - alpha male yet unlike any other alpha male I've ever seen in a book before.

I'd like to second the recommendation of Stacia Kane's downside Ghosts series. The main male lead, Terrible, isn't Baron's but the intensity between him and Chress is really something. I spent three sleepless days reading this series - mostly because I was so addicted to the romance.

For delicious, unique alpha male types you might also check out the Chicagoland vampire series by Chloe Neill. Ethan Sullivan isn't as intense as Baron's but he's completely drool worthy. Makes my top 5 hottest male leads list right alongside Barons.

The Fever series itself is more of an epic fantasy series than a classic urban fantasy. I recently read a new book named Shadow Reader by Sandy Williams that has that epic fantasy feel. Sadly there are no Barons-like characters in the story, but the romance is still very good, and the story is amazing.

Try Melisa Marr Wicked Series, Julie Kagawa The Iron Series, Lesley Livingston, Aprilynne Pike, Karen Mahoney Iron Witch Series.
My favourite Night Huntress Jeaniene Frost Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost and Kalayna Price Alex Craft Grave Witch (Alex Craft, #1) by Kalayna Price Grave Dance (Alex Craft, #2) by Kalayna Price Grave Memory (Alex Craft, #3) by Kalayna Price

I just finished this series and LOVED it!! I would love to read Barrons story. does any body have news about Moning writing a series about JZB's life? I cannot get enough it seems. LOL

PLEASE HELP. Thanks

Another series not mention which is really good is The Hollows Series by Kim Harrison. The first book is called Dead Witch Walking. Also recommend reading Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James. It has alittle BSDM in it just so you know.

I too have yet to find a series like the "Fever Series" that is even close, but will give some of the other post's suggestions a try.Still hard to beat this series!

I read the books about a year ago and I agree GREAT series. First book/series I read on my kindle. I was lucky to have stumbled upon it. Haven't found anything like it since =(

I second rec for The Hollows series by Kim Harrison. It has a similar kind of character growth/change thing going on.

Well, I agree with must of you: I LOVED FEVER SERIES!!
Is one of the best series ever...

But, if you are looking for a series that can go really near them, I recommend:
Angels' Blood (Guild Hunter, #1) by Nalini Singh
Naked in Death (In Death, #1) by J.D. Robb
Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost

In death series is really really long (I just stated) but it's totally worth it!! And Guild Hunter and Night Huntress series are REALLY REALLY GOOD!! I totally recommend them.

Hope you like them!!
xoxo

Definately check out Chicagoland Vampire series and I just found a self-published author on Kindle that blew me away! "Love is Darkness" by Caroline Hanson... amazing! The second book is due mid December.

Or, lol, you can wait until mine is published... I have a very "Barrons-esque" male protag that, so far, my beta readers LOVE. he he.

Mac can never be duplicated. She was the character you feel in love with. The last book was a little disappointing but if there were another faefever books I would buy it in a heartbeat! I did like the series the book is from below. Wish he could have seen the last book through to publishing!

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest by Stieg Larsson

I would suggest Pandora's Box (The Road to Hell Series) by Gracen Miller ! Great book and this is the first in the series!!

LOVED the fever series and NOTHING can top it, trying to find something as good is an impossible task!!

Delaney I have to agree with Naomi, the Hallows has a great list of bad guys, you love, and love to hate sometimes. Some sex but not much, violence, and actio ...more
