Ok.
Here is the Periodic table. Nika gave me the idea to turn into a Challenge because she is taking an Earth Science class. I said I thought I could turn the table into a challenge, but I need help. I am about to eat breakfast so I will think on it as I devour my eggs:D
Here are two pictures:

The only not-so-original idea I came up with is to have the author First & Last initials be the two-letter symbol (in any order: so for Iron it could be FE or EF) If it's a one-letter symbol (Like O for Oxygen) then it could be an author first OR last initial. You could also use titles if you wanted.
Over on Crazy Challenge group they had a challenge It's Elemental, My Dear! based on the periodic table. You can check it out here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
I'm sure if you asked Barb, she would allow you to use it here. Or maybe this will just give you the inspiration you need to create a challenge.
Oh wow! that's really involved. Nice challenge.
Thanks BC.
I don't know if I will borrow it since a lot of people belong to that group and have probably seen it.
Back to drawing board. I should probably ask my 6 year old as she keeps making up games (and rules) for us to play. Kids are quite creative...and cheaters too :D

That's Nika's problem...I prefer to ENTER challenges not create them. I am not touching that challenge now that she has stepped in. Woo hoooo!

I'm working on my August foreman challenge and August in History. Sorry I slacked on the July foreman challenge, I just could not think of anything.
Also trying to think of some other things to do since I feel like I've been slacking around here a bit, but with the new job change things are a little wacky around here.

Sorry, I just finishing packing for Myrtle Beach. My mom got here. I am trying to clean the house so I can come back to Pine sol clean. That is the best smell, opening your house and smelling that Fresh/Clean smell.
Please keep an eye on DB and FWYS, and maybe send a pm to the group as I won't be able to.
DAMN Houston wants Chandler Parsons. Damn them and Donnie dummy Nelson. He doesn't know what the hell he is doing

What days are you going to be gone?
I have to have the house spotless before going out of town.

What I've got so far is:
pink = characters
yellow = history
blue = geography
purple = arts (covers)
green = science/nature (so settings, by water, desert, etc)
orange - sports/leisure (vehicles, weapons, sports, etc)
and then there are 12 "other" spots that I believe are roll agains in the normal version, but I figured they could be wild cards (so author, stand alone, etc).
We would provide a list of listopias and shelves for each color that the players would choose from whenever they land on the color. They have to read one book from one of those lists/shelves to move on.
If they land on a pie spot, they have to read 2 books on any of those and then answer a question that revolves around that category in order to get the pie piece. The first person to get all the pieces wins.

Is working off of listopias/shelves too much work? If so, how else do people pick their books? Maybe instead of lists/shelves, we label each spot with a number and that number corresponds to something like Swoonworthy Heroes for characters and they have to prove somehow that the hero in the book they read is indeed swoonworthy? That kind of thing would be easier for geography (read a book set in London) or history (read a book published in 2001 or set in 1960). Even for arts (read a book with a red cover) and science/nature (read a book set near a lake). I think characters really would be the more difficult one followed by sports/leisure (unless we stuck strictly to sports or maybe weapons/vehicles on the cover)

I think the idea is awesome, will definitely play :•D

You may have heard of the longest train station name in the world ?
Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch
It will be a bit of a challenge though lol.
I think you could make that one into a year-long challenge all by itself! XD
Loving all the new ideas!
The Trivial Pursuit project looks especially fun, I'm kinda in awe of your creativity Paris! :) Maybe you could number the spots and combine using lists/shelves for the harder categories like characters and sports/leisure with clear tasks (red cover, lake setting, etc.) for the rest?

That is awesome. I didn't know about that. I think that would be a fantastic spell out challenge...emphasis on the challenge part. lol

I think I'll also need help with the questions for each category. Let me know if you ladies have any suggestions on that part.
I'll be out of the country on vacation from tomorrow until next Thursday, could one of you keep an eye on the buddy reads and set up new threads if anyone else signs up? :)
I'll check in every once in a while, but I probably won't be quite as attached to the internet as usual. ;)

Back "home" to Germany, spending some time at my parents' place together with my boyfriend. :)
Thx!

Denise, take me with you. Have fun and drink lots of dark beer like Guinness.
I will also keep an eye on the BR thread with Jenne
