Then there is one of my recent favorites from 3FB for the name if nothing else- Cenotaph or 'Zombie Dust' a pale fruity light ale featuring a single type of hops from California that really gets in your face, in a good way.
Time for a road trip perhaps. If you are in the Central US near Chicago a worthy road trip is to Munster, Indiana to the Three Floyds Brewpub.

I'm not wild about this one. It's too mild for me. Too citrusy. I liked the Burning River a lot better.

A visit to the LCBO is always dispiriting (pun intended). Why of all the American beers they could carry is everything either Budweiser or PBR? Where are all the good Canadian beers like Unibroue? I was glad to find this one.
We Canadians do make the best beer.

Then why can't I buy it at the LCBO?????"
We're keeping it from them on purpose.

Not a real beer fan. I prefer Mike's Hard Lemonade, a vodka cooler. Had some excellent Australian wine this week. Wish they sold it here.
My friend made up his own drink: A good hard comfortable screw. One ounce hard liquor; one ounce Southern Comfort, and vodka and orange juice(screwdriver). The dude is creative, I'll give him that.

I like Sleeman's beer. Has a unique taste to it. It's not available where I live so my brother brings some home from Guelph.

Then there is one of my recent favorite..."
We stopped at 3 Floyds on our way home from our latest road trip. The wait for the restaurant/bar was 90 minutes, the wait for the package store was 25 minutes. The bar tender said that was typical for Saturday, and the the least crowded time is a sunday when there is a bears game.
I really like the Robert the Bruce scottish ale. The rest of their brews are IPA's or pale ales, which I don't like. If you like hoppy beer, you will like 3 Floyds.

Not enough flavor for me.
"This classic Belgian-style White Beer is brewed with unmalted wheat, a touch of oats, and then traditionally spiced with coriander and orange peel for a crisp, refreshing taste and spicy aroma."

Whereas this, I really like. So mellow, but enough flavor to keep me happy.
"This French-style country ale is deep amber in color. With a toasty, sweet caramel start, it finishes with just enough hops to clean off the palate."

Pleasing. I would drink again.
"Sweet toffee scents give way to rich milk chocolate and a dash of roasted coffee. Like the scent, the swallow’s malt-forward: Smooth toffee glides back before a bitter wave of roasted malts dig into the palate. Hints of chocolate sweeten the bitter sweep, while nuanced citrus and herbal hops add depth to the profile. While this beer could benefit from a slightly stronger malt backbone to support its bitterness, it still displays generous flavor."

The Poet Oatmeal Stout. Hearty, mild bitterness. I would definitely drink this again. More of a fall/winter beer than summer.
"This stout is sheer beer poetry. Let it warm to about 45 F and pour it into a glass to fully experience its rich, roasty flavors and hints of coffee and chocolate. One glass and you’ll agree: The Poet is truly a rich, creamy brew of epic proportions."
"Oatmeal Stout
Description:
These are generally medium to full bodied stouts that have an unreal smoothness to them from the addition of oats to the mash. The oats not only add a lot of smoothness to the mouth feel but give a touch of sweetness that is unlike any other type of stout. Both levels of roasted flavor and hop character will vary."

It's beer. It is light and doesn't seem to me to have much aftertaste. A Summer Beverage without all that 'dang' fruit flavor so popular at the moment.

This has a high rating on the beer rating sites. I would definitely drink it again even though it seems rather basic to me. Still, it's been a long time since I've drunk one of them cheap beers so maybe my tastes have become elevated...
"This smooth lager strikes a delicate balance between malt and hops in the aroma, palate, finish and body. It has more body and less hops than a Pilsner, and less malt and more hops than a Munich style lager."

Deschutes Obsidian Stout. Very hearty and bitter. I don't know that I would buy a full six-pack again, but I'd drink it if I was in the right mood. But not my favorite stout thus far.
"Deep, robust and richly rewarding, this is beer to linger over. Obsidian has distinct notes of espresso, chocolate, roasted malt and black barley, with just enough hop bite to cut the sweetness."
This gets an Exceptional, 4.2/5 rating from Beer Advocate.

Lagunitas Sucks. I find this lemony, light, just a hint of sourness mixed with bitterness that vanishes quickly. Really good. I would definitely buy this again.
"a ‘Cereal Medley’ of Barley, Rye, Wheat, and Oats…. Full of complexishness from the 4 grains, and weighing in at 7.85% abv, Then joyously dry-hopped for that big aroma and resinous hop flavor."
This gets an Outstanding rating from Beer Advocate, 4.32/5.
Style: American Double / Imperial IPA.
"Description:
Take an India Pale Ale and feed it steroids, ergo the term Double IPA. Although open to the same interpretation as its sister styles, you should expect something robust, malty, alcoholic and with a hop profile that might rip your tongue out. The Imperial usage comes from Russian Imperial stout, a style of strong stout originally brewed in England for the Russian Imperial Court of the late 1700s; though Double IPA is often the preferred name.
You can thank west coast American brewers for this somewhat reactionary style. "Thanks!"

Tastes like chocolate, with the mouthfeel of a bottled Starbucks Frappucino. (I guess it's supposed to taste like Neapolitan ice cream.)
"Milk / Sweet Stouts are basically stouts that have a larger amount of residual dextrins and unfermented sugars that give the brew more body and a sweetness that counters the roasted character. Milk Stouts are very similar to Sweet Stouts, but brewers add unfermentable sugars, usually lactose, to the brew kettle to add body and some sweetness."

Two Brothers Pinball juicy hop pale ale. Mango smell, slight bitter apple taste. Fresh and perky, but a bitter aftertaste. I like it.
Beer Advocate says: "From the moment Pinball is shot out of the can, this Pale Ale takes your taste buds on a flavorful ride. Bounced between bumpers of tropical and citrus fruit, Pinball perfectly rides the rail between hoppy and sweet.
American Pale Ale (APA)
Description:
Of British origin, this style is now popular worldwide and the use of local ingredients, or imported, produces variances in character from region to region. Generally, expect a good balance of malt and hops. Fruity esters and diacetyl can vary from none to moderate, and bitterness can range from lightly floral to pungent.
American versions tend to be cleaner and hoppier, while British tend to be more malty, buttery, aromatic and balanced."

This has a high rating on the beer rating sites. I would definitely drink it again even though it seems rather basic to me. Still, it's been a long time since I've drunk one of them cheap beers s..."
I'm gonna try it just because it's called Dort.

IknowIknow. Sooo much loathing of the fruit beers. Blablabla. Well I LOooOOOvve the right kind of strawberry beer and this is it. "Pete's Wicked Ale" used to have a seasonal called Strawberry Blonde but I think they went out of business. Anyway, this is the first one I've found since the early 2000s that I like as well. It's not TOO strawberry-ee. Plus I love Abita beers.
"Abita Strawberry Harvest is a lager brewed with pilsner and wheat malts and Vanguard hops. Real Louisiana strawberry juice is added after filtration resulting in a crisp lager with a sweet strawberry flavor, aroma and haze.
It's got a strawberry haze, y'all.

I first saw hops being grown and harvested in the Dakotas many years ago. They didn't have even a brew pub within a days drive at that time.
Will this make 'better' beer? Time and crafting will only tell.

Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Coffee Stout. Too much coffee flavor; if I want coffee, I want it in coffee form. (Alternatively, ice cream.) High alcohol content for a nice buzz, though. I would not buy again on purpose.
