Ana I was looking for an opportunity to read it. Bought it months ago..Ok Lacy, I will join you:)

Caroline (pip_squeak) Hey Lacy! I brought a copy of this at Flicks (my daughters) summer school fete for 10p! It's been sitting on the shelf ever since, please count me in, will be great to read another book with you:-) x x

Charlotte (Buried in Books) | 561 comments I got 250 pages into this earlier in the year and then just stopped - because I was loving it (weird I know but there are some books you just don't want to end - so I stop reading).

Is it OK to join in if I've already started?

Lacy (lacy_stewart) | 1966 comments This is so cool! Thanks for joining me ladies. It is great to be reading another one with you Caroline! It is nice meeting you Ananda and Charlotte.

Lacy (lacy_stewart) | 1966 comments Oh, good! I had a birthday celebration today, so I didn't have much time to read. I'm glad that I'm not behind. I only read about 20 pages.

Caroline (pip_squeak) I'm hoping to start today too:-) x x

Caroline (pip_squeak) Hello Ladies! Hope your all okay?Has anyone started the book yet? I'm up to page 48 & really getting into the story now! x x

message 16: by Lacy (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lacy (lacy_stewart) | 1966 comments I started and I am on page 74. I think it is an interesting story and flow is smooth.

The one thing that really annoys me and I don't know if I missed it, but I don't know the main girls name! It is bugging me!

Caroline (pip_squeak) No no name as yet! Irritating isn't it!! x x

message 18: by Lacy (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lacy (lacy_stewart) | 1966 comments So, what are you thinking so far Caroline?

Has anyone else had a chance to start the book?

I have been so busy this week, but I managed to just pass the 100 pages mark today. I like the story, but I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for something "more" to happen!

I really like the historical information on the real Vlad.

Caroline (pip_squeak) Mmmm, Its very intriguing, but I want something to happen to!! Having said that I have now ordered a copy of Dracula from my local library, as this book is piquing my interest!! I think I am around page 129 x x

Caroline (pip_squeak) Its getting better!! I must admit I was having a rather hard time with this book, until last night & for some reason I've really got into it & its starting to get into its own now:-) x x

message 21: by Lacy (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lacy (lacy_stewart) | 1966 comments Oh good. I had a hard time making myself read it yesterday! I will definately read more today. Dracula is a good classic, but a little slow.

Caroline (pip_squeak) I know what you mean about make yourself read it! I read another book in between yesterday & It must of cleared my head, because I picked the Historian up last night & read quite alot of it without struggling! Thanks for the heads up on Dracula! x x

Lacy (lacy_stewart) | 1966 comments I'm really enjoying this book now. I'm on page 254 and I'm trying to figure out what is going to happen next. It is starting to get pretty creepy. What do you think of Turgut Bora? Of Hellen?

Caroline (pip_squeak) The book has definitely come into its own now:-) I'm around page 309 I'm really interested by Helen I'm intrigued to know if shes who I think she is(view spoiler) I wasn't so sure about Bora at first but he seems okay! X x

message 27: by Lacy (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lacy (lacy_stewart) | 1966 comments My kids are sick, so it has cut into my reading time! I'm on page 351. I really like Helen, (I don't know how to do the spoiler hiding thing), but I keep wondering about her neck and the painting resemblence. My brain keeps rolling those things around trying to fit them like puzzle pieces! Your hidden spoilers...I was wondering about that as well. I have a feeling that nothing in this story is going to be accidental. So, yeah I think that it is going to be important. I really like Bora, at first I
was weary of him, but he is sweet. I wonder if Hugh is going to be a good guy? I want to know what is up with Geza Jozef, what is the back story there...

message 28: by Gracie (new)

Caroline (pip_squeak) Of course Catherine be great to see what you & Ananda think & discus at a later date! i got my copy from my Daughters school fete in Essex! The local chartiy shops charged so much for 2nd hand books, so when I find them for 10p I lap then up! Lol, actually my local library sell them for that too, so I always have a nose on the sale stand when I go there!!..... Sorry to hear your little ones aren't well Lacy:-( Hope their feeling much much better soon my little boy was ill last wk & has passed onto Mummy who has spent the last two days in bed reading!! Lol!. Ananda & Catherine enjoy, looking forward to hearing you thoughts x x

message 35: by Lacy (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lacy (lacy_stewart) | 1966 comments Thank you Caroline. The kids are starting to feel better. I read a little bit more of the book. I read about Helen's mothers story. I was hoping to learn more, but it still intrigued me. Was it Rossi? I can't see him doing that unless he thought to protect them? Or maybe he really doesn't remember. I thought maybe it was someone being him but that wouldn't explain the stack of letters left behind. I'm getting impatient for answers!

Caroline (pip_squeak) Glad to here the kiddies are starting to feel better:-) !!! How good is this book? I'm a little ahead of you, few more pages and your questions will be answered! x x

I'm jealous! you're in Essex, and I'm stuck here in New Jersey, instead of in Shaftesbury! :)

Lacy (lacy_stewart) | 1966 comments Okay, I caught up! I'm on page 486 and the flow of the story is moving along at a more steady pace. We have a lot more information. I can feel the end coming on!

How are you doing?

Charlotte (Buried in Books) | 561 comments I must pick this book up again. I'm next door to Caroline in Suffolk, unseasonal weather we're having at the mo!

Caroline (pip_squeak) Lol Charlotte! When do we ever have seasonal weather in the UK?!
I finished!!! I'll wait for you you to finish Lacy & Catherine & Ananda to dicuse!! Enjoy x x

Charlotte (Buried in Books) | 561 comments Well, it's the middle of October and I didn't need a coat outside today - that for me is unseasonal!!! Especially when Christmas is just over 2 months way.

message 46: by Lacy (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lacy (lacy_stewart) | 1966 comments I finished! The last hundred pages were gripping weren't they?

Caroline (pip_squeak) Lol Charlotte! I know I wore my shorts the first weekend of October! Unheard of x x

Lacy!! Weren't they just! Did you like though? xx

message 48: by Lacy (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lacy (lacy_stewart) | 1966 comments I did like it.

It was descriptive and beautiful story telling. At some points my visual pictures as I read were very vivid, like a movie in my mind. I loved the history and travel, and how it all tied together at the end. I loved the part with Rossi in the crypt and library, it was very intense.

Did you like it?

I saw on my update page that you plan on reading Labyrinth before the year is out? Let me know when, if you want some company. I have that book collecting dust on my shelf!

Caroline (pip_squeak) Hey Lacy! I really enjoyed the book too! Thanks for reading it with me! I totally agree with all you have said, although sometimes I did find it a bit had going!

I will drop you a line when I get round to reading Labyrinth! & if your free would love to read it with you x x
