David Santos (authordas) I guess this is a tip. Many blogs I have seen from Goodreads members are mainly about books and nothing else, but have a strong following. I've also seen non book bloggers post random stuff and also have a good following.

Some say I should stick to books, but my site/blogs top 4/5 posts have nothing to do with books even though mosts of my posts are book reviews.

Question is, should a blogger stick to the blogs main theme? If its book, should it only talk about books?

Here is my blog so you get what I mean http://www.davidasantos.com/

nightlyreadingheather (heatherhy01) I think that the reason people blog is because they enjoy doing so and that a blog can be about whatever the blogger would like it to be. Myn is strictly books, but I follow others that switch off and on with books and just plain old life. I think if the blogger has a great personality and writes interesting posts, they will get followers no matter what.

Valerie (valerielipstick) Hmmm.... well my blog is basically all about YA books, but they don't have to be.
Really, as long as the posts are awesome, the blogs will be awesome!

Eustacia Tan | 11 comments Mine is mainly about books, because I read so much, and because almost anything else I do can be found on Facebook/twitter anyway. But I do blog about unrelated stuff when I feel like it (like talking about snapseed). I think the "theme" is secondary to what you want to post, because your blog should feel genuine(: but this is just my two cents (not adjusted for inflation :p)

David Santos (authordas) The most boring thing about my blogs I feel are my book reviews aha Thats why I blog about other things. I've been kicked out of certain blog feeds because I didn't stick to one subject, thats why i ask.

Karla BookAddict2 (karlabookaddict) | 14 comments your blog is an extention of who you are as a person and you shouldnt be limited to post only about books, its your blog, post whatever u like, whatever feels right to you and that u want to share.

if others dont like that to bad for them, i love book review blogs but i also like to know about the person behing the posts. :D

Kimberly | 45 comments My blog, www.turningthepagesx.blogspot.com is htus far only about books but with Christmas upon us I might add more life posts. It's nice to get to know the reviewer!

Char (CharmaineElaine) | 253 comments I actually love this topic and am wondering if any of our current members have anything to say about this?

I personally feel that if a blog is well written then it doesn't matter what you post. However, I find it tedious to read book blogs that are more a recap of the story than a review. I don't want to know the story, I want to know what you thought of it. Recap by all means but keep it to a paragraph or so.

Non book blogs aren't really somewhere I go. I use my blog to share my love of books!

Julia (juliavdc) | 48 comments I, personally, don't really read book reviews. I go and read the book for myself. I'll admit it, I LOVE blogs that have funny, odd, or just random posts, as long as they stick to the main theme of the blog. For example, Bank St. Irregular is an author's blog, but she posts various posts about secret, hidden, and amazing things in NY and everywhere else, like secret bookstores, flesh-eating bugs, etc.
