Hope you enjoy this group as much as I do. And don't be backwards about asking questions -everyone is very happy to help!

Stephanie - I would suggest that you join the December Pick It For Me Challenge. It will be posted for sign up around 20-23 November. It is a great way to get recommendations from other members. Just make sure you read the directions carefully :)

I've joined in the November one, nearly completed it :)"
Nice! Congrats :)

I just started doing reviews on my Webbiegrrl Writer Blog and am running up against that wall of integrity where I refuse to lie and praise a book I don't love but I don't want to hurt people's feelings either--or an Indie Author's career. Then again, if they cannot handle an honest review, they shouldn't be in this business. But then on the "gripping hand," I'm an Indie Author, too, and I know there's no need to post a scathing review unless you actively HATED the book. I've gotten one of those scathing, hateful reviews and am much-relieved I've gotten only one.
I think if a readers was just annoyed the book wasn't edited properly (alas, far too true far too often) then they should just leave the comments at that--or decline to post a review. I give authors the choice: I can comment on their lack of professional editing services or I can pretend I never read the book at all. I am highly unlikely to re-read a book that had issues unless they pay me to edit it for them. I don't want to rip into their work with all the issues if they can't get the spelling, grammar, punctuation and formatting correctly done. It's tedious, time-consuming and not fun, but publishing is a business not just for the personal enjoyment of the author. My 2 cents. I foresee making enemies :-( I hope not to lose too many of my author friends over reviews.
Finally, as noted, I am an Indie Author myself. I have 3 pen names and write Romantic Suspense and Science Fiction under two of them. My SciFi is the psychological, social science sort with a suspense/thriller kind of a tone but definitely NOT with weird aliens or space wars, as I dislike those sorts of SciFi. Mine is more "classic" style. I also write non-fiction (marketing and general publishing business advice) under this Webbiegrrl Writer name.
And now I'm off to post about my first-ever giveaway for a friend whose talent has pleasantly surprised me :) I apologize if it seems like I'm doing fly-by posts. I'm working two jobs and moving (in my little Saturn sedan) so I'm lucky to sleep and read let alone spend more than once or twice a week on Goodreads. It's only been 10 days on this new schedule but I miss my Goodreads already!

Welcome newcomers I may have missed.

Welcome Samantha! I love the romantic suspense books as well... keep an eye on our monthly Featured Authors Challenge as the rom suspense genre often turn up there :)

Welcome to the group, Bre! Glafd to hear you jumped feet-first into the monthly challenge. It's a great place to start :)

Nice to meet you Samantha. There is just something good about a suspenseful romance... right now i am reading the Thoughtless and Effortless books and they are definately suspenseful. :-)

Hi Susan! You've joined the right group to meet new ppl and chat about books :) The best places to start (in my humble opinion) are in the monthly challenges and 'what are you reading?'. The Fun & Games section generally has a bit of activity in it at all times of the day as well :)

Good luck in the challenges Annee and welcome to the group! We love new faces, or as some members say, 'fresh blood' :)

My name is Tilly Slaton. I have been an avid reader, writer and reviewer on goodreads for quite some time now. I have news! My book, Unleashed Desire, is being published by Siren! It is estimated to be released on January 17th :)
I'm here to make some friends, and hopefully meet other writers who are wanting to network and perhaps cross ideas about.
You can reach me at www.tillyslaton.com or at facebook.com/authortillyslaton ... ARCs to the first 50 new likes!
~happy reading

I've recently started reviewing books (as opposed to just rating them) and I'm definitely looking forward to meeting more people who read romance!

I read a variety of genres except sci fi and is more inclined towards chick lit, romance and thrillers.

You have all joined at the right time, with the December challenges just kicking off :) Don't be shy in jumping in feet-first to any of the challenges or chats. We'd love to hear from you and have you participate!

You've come to the right place! I hope you enjoy the challenges and the great members here :)

A friend recommended this group for the reading challenges. I'm excited to try it, and scared by goodreads. I get a little overwhelmed by it.

GR will settle down for you soon, Jenna. My biggest issue was working out what all the abbreviations were that everyone used :)
My condolences, Anita - but wow, it is going to take a while to get through those paperbacks!

You've come to the right place! I hope you enjoy the challenges and the great members here :)"
Thanks,Fran! I'm sure I will :)

Lorilee - I loved this group initially because it helped me through my massive TBR, working out what to read next using the monthly challenge categories :) Good luck!
Brooke - I'm a JAK fan as well. She writes a great blend of humour and emotion with that PNR twist. On balance I probably prefer her Jayne Castle books, but it doesn't really matter what genre she writes, they are all pretty good!
Stacey - just poke around and see what interests you... There is a list of current challenges in the monthly newsletter that we post on the RRRC site that might give you some ideas. Or you could join in the chats on 'What Are You Reading?' or see what is happening in the Fun & Games threads... Plenty to immerse yourself in if you feel so inclined :)

as a note, we (the mods) know/understand that there are a lot of different authors in the group. But please refrain from posting about your books anywhere, but in the self-promotion thread (Here).
We will be deleting posts that are not in the correct place, so if you don't want that to happen, please delete it or ask us to move a thread

i joined this group because seemed to me super interesting. :) and to know about others reading choices... good ideas are welcome!

(I'm still finding my way around the site, so please bare with me. I might just 'jump' into a challenge or two ready for 2013 and see how I get on) I'm looking forward to discovering new Friends, Authors and recommendations.

I'm Katie, and today is Christmas Day. My Wonderful Husband and Daughters have given me a much longed for gift. I am now the proud new owner of a Paper White Kindle, with an Amazon Gift Card to buy some New Ebooks.
I have been browsing the group for a week or two now and thought I would stop being rude, take the plunge and join in. I like to read a bit of a mix (depending on my Mood), with Romance being my first love, although I do have a serious weakness for an Alpha Male. I hope to gain some recommendations and new friendships (I don't know anyone that uses Goodreads!!)

I hope you enjoy the challenges and the great members here- and find some new titles to read :)
