Andrea Jackson (paperbackdiva) Hi, gang! I just joined, hoping this will help me keep track of my reading challenges this year. And my books. I'm a writer and a reader. My on line id is usually Paperback Diva or pbdiva. I love Goodreads and romance.

Sharmila | 3 comments Hello all!

So excited about this book club.

I’m pretty much read and read and read paranormal, historical, contemporary and erotic romance and YA romance too. If a book has a drop of romancein it I'am in! I joined Goodreads because I really didn't have anyone to discuss all these emotions with. Its not fun reviewing or talking about a book with someone who hadn't read it :.(...You guys are my people

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Welcome to the group Andrea, Ava~Lucy and Sharmila!!!

We love new members here! Plenty of challenges and ways to keep track of them Andrea. Best wishes with the writing :) and make sure you post your author info and discussions in the self-promotion section...

Oooh - I love coffee with my books Ava~Lucy! And those blueberry muffins are making me hungry ;) I can see that sofa's attraction...

I so agree with your reasons for joining in here, Sharmila - I had no-one to chat with about my books either until I logged in here... Now I'm spoilt for choice ;)

Hope you all enjoy your time here. Don't be afraid to post questions in any of the threads. Everyone is really friendly :)

message 254: by Susan (new)

Susan (TheQueenofLight) Hello, I'm Seiko... I read pretty infrequently, but I usually go through several books at once when I do. Most of my collection is actually manga but, since I don't really need any more help finding those, I don't list them all on Goodreads.
Outside of manga, I prefer fantasy with romance weaved in, and I favour LGBT romances as of late (or perhaps I always did, and have only bothered to pick them up now). Having read "Wicked Gentlemen" by Ginn Hale, steampunk is also beginning to look alluring...

While I read a book, I like to make marks of it in the real world... I tend to spam status updates, talk about them constantly and pin examples from the book to events in real life. While Googling "character challenge" to help develop a character's motivation, I passed a reading challenge here that looked like a fun way to further record the books, and so... Hello. ^_^'

message 255: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Hi Seiko - welcome to the group!

You'll fit right in - we have some manga readers, heaps of fantasy lovers, a solid balance of GLBT fanatics and ppl who love steampunk (not always tied back to GLBT, but there is a bit of cross-over)... :)

Hope you enjoy our challenges!

message 256: by Robin (new)

Robin Van Auken (robin_van_auken) | 1 comments Hello all. I've joined because I read a lot of romance and exceeded my GR challenge last year. This year, I've got two challenges going and looking at the (long) list in this group. I'm self-employed and have to avoid slacking off, so accepting a challenge allows me to spend more time reading without the guilt.

message 257: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Welcome to the group Madeline! LOL - I like your idea on how to read without guilt when maybe you should be working ;) Join a challenge!

Elaine Whitesides (ewhitesides) | 2 comments Greetings! Just joined because I have a friend who writes women's stories and she has introduced me to romance-type stories. I've enjoyed them more than I ever thought I would so I figure this group might be fun as I explore this new-to-me genre.

message 272: by Makenzie (new)

Makenzie (makenziefay) | 496 comments Welcome Elaine! I joined this group as a newbie to the genre as well, and I have found a plethora of books that I have really enjoyed since joining. Participating in challenges is the best way I found of finding new books to read. This group is full of wonderful people with never-ending bookshelves. I hope you enjoy it here!

message 273: by Elaine (new)

Elaine Whitesides (ewhitesides) | 2 comments Thanks. I still have to figure out how to navigate it all and not over-commit since I'm not quite sure how to participate. It will all come with time, I know. I appreciate your note.

Cheers!

Of course, I join the day after the February 2013 challenge ends!

I love seeing what other titles romance readers are reading.. so many books, so little time.

message 282: by Beth (last edited Feb 01, 2013 02:03AM) (new)

Beth Michele (bethmichelewriter) | 14 comments Hi,

My name is Beth and I love reading and writing. Romance is my absolute favorite genre. I love the way it whisks you away to another world, if only for a millisecond, for a moment, or for an eternity.

The books that make your heart swirl, the ones that leave a mark on your soul that will be imprinted forever...those are my favorites.

I also love the ones that make you laugh and cause your toes to curl.

There's nothing like a good love story, good characters, and good LOVE.

I recently heard something about steampunk in my area, what is it exactly? I am feeling a bit behind!

message 290: by Tina (last edited Feb 08, 2013 12:48PM) (new)

Tina Rischlynn (tinarischlynn) Wow, it has been a crazy busy couple of weeks. Starting a new job, trying to write, a new class just started and annoyingly nasty weather has caused me to get a bit behind. I see we have a bunch of people that have recently joined our not quite so little group and I would like to say Welcome personally. I am (obviously) Christina and I am currently reading Eat, Pray, Love which like most books is far better than the movie (even though I love Julia). But anyways, I hope you all have fun and I am working on an idea for a challenge myself so I hope you like Jane Austen! Ever want to talk or ask anything, feel free!

message 291: by Cathy (new)

Cathy (reviewsbycat) | 24 comments Thanks MountainKat! I will definetly check them out and try to limit it!! LOL - knowing me, I'll be joining them all and driving myself crazy to complete them!! :o)
