Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Hi Samantha! Welcome to the group.

And you are definitely not alone! I always have an Ebook and an audio on the go, and sometimes a third book. I like to think it’s not an obsession 🤣

MountainKat | 31610 comments Welcome Samantha! You will find out as you look through the group that you are far from alone! The biggest question when you finish a book is what to read next. 😅

message 3153: by Richard (new)

Richard Cadot (richardcadot) Hi! My name is Richard and I am a French Canadian writer. I am currently writing a novel about a love story set in the near future.

I did not read a lot of romances in my life. As you may have guessed, I'm more into anticipation stuff.

I am currently reading "Pride and prejudice" (which seems to have set in stone the structure for all the Hollywood romantic comedies) but I must say that I feel way out of my comfort zone as a reader and as a man reading it...

I did LOVE "Jane Eyre" by Bronte though, which is rightfully a classic.

Anyways, I am turning to this group in the hope of getting recommendations for the greatest love stories from a MALE protagonist point of view. Do such novels even exist? Is there such a list somewhere?

Thanks for your help!

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Welcome Richard and Chistelle!!

You'll both need to post in more specific threads to get recommendations, and since I read predominantly MM romance I am not your best option for recs :D

Post your questions in either of these folders and hopefully someone will answer :

CB (cb33) | 1312 comments Hello - I just joined the group and am looking forward to some challenges, book recs, and good dialogue with other members. I pretty much just read Urban Fantasy, Romance, and Paranormal Romance. And then in the Romance genre, my favorite types to read are about professional athletes, MC, and mafia.

C.R. Alam | 1 comments Hello, my name is Crivenica. I'm an avid romance novels reader (and an aspiring writer). My favorite authors so far are Judith McNaught (her books always make me cry), Nora Roberts (love her Ireland stories and those with mysticism elements) and Amanda Quick. I, of course, love Jane Austen. I got very angry at my English professor (20 years ago) for disrespecting Austen because she wrote about love. What's not great about love stories, right?

message 3163: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Welcome to the group CR (Crivenica ~ but we always use the profile name :). Hope you have fun looking through our challenges and bookshelves. Best wishes with the writing!

message 3170: by Natalia (new)

Natalia Gruszka | 1 comments Hello all!

My name is Natalia and I am a 27 year old that is back to her old reading frenzy. Back in high school I started reading books every day. It started with Twilight *shudders*. Recently I have re-read C.L. Wilson's Tairen Soul Series and the Bronze Horseman but I can't bring myself to read the second and third book due to the spoilers I accidentally read (argh). So I am begging you, can anyone recommend me any books or series that is fantasy romance or even something similar to the Outlander series or even The Bronze Horseman? I want heavy romance (adult romance) but NO INFIDELITY. I want a book that takes its time to build a world that is unique and beautiful and not like anything I have ever seen before. I don't mind getting introduced to other characters but I want the attention to just the two people. Often times I see the first few books of a series be highly recommended and then the last one is just blah. I get really emotionally invested in the two main characters and their love so if at the end of the series or somewhere in between there is a short fall out where one or both cheats on the other, I can't handle that.

So please, please provide some good recommendations, preferably long books 400+.

Thank you.

Welcome Natalia - as you are actually asking for suggestions, this would be better posted in another thread :) I would suggest in this folder: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...

Having said that, I have one series that I love as do most romance fans here:
Book 1: Magic Bites

I'm sure there are a heap more, but I read MM romance more so than MF :D

Kay Phillips (teacherreadsromance) | 3 comments Hi All!
I joined so I could expand my romance reading horizons. This is my second good reads account, since my first is linked with where I teach. I didn't exactly want to advertise all the shirtless hunks to my work friends and student lead bookclubs! And, I'm tried of just screen-shoting the romance books I really want to read, so here I am.

That said, I'm really missing the "what my friends are reading" feature that goes with my regular account. I look forward to meeting romance lovers like me.

My favorite authors are Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy, but I'm not just about sports romance. What I love the most about romance is even though we know they'll be together, it's all about how they get there.

message 3173: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Welcome to the group Kay!! A lot of members read the two authors you listed so I’m sure you’ll find some like-minded readers. The challenges are also a great way to see what ppl are reading ~ don’t be backwards in jumping on in!

Enjoy 🙂

message 3176: by Yvonne Smith (last edited Nov 16, 2018 07:59PM) (new)

Yvonne Smith | 5 comments Hello,

I am Yvonne, and an 80 year old who loves to read romantic books. I attended Saint Leo University and graduated at the age 75.I currently live in Kent, WA, a suburb of Seattle.
I read 10-15 books a month, sometimes more.
I am a widow of a Vietnam veteran and have lots of time on my hand.
I read a book and have forgotten the name and really want to read it again.
There were three brothers who had taken over from their father and the one brother named Melo was married to Patsy. He treated her so bad and caused her to drown her pain in alcohol. Meanwhile her had a side B----, and they had what he thought was 2 sons. Melo treated Patsy like trash and bought his side chick a home, etc.
Patsy changed her ways and Melo talked her into moving to the ATl and his secret came out when they were at the Cheese factory and who walked in, but the side chick and the son saw his dad and immediately ran to him.
Long story short, Patsy got a divorce, side chick married another man, second baby wasn't Melo's, and, KARMA GOT MELO, AND HE WANTED PATSY BACK, BUT SHE HAD A NEW LOVE !!!!
GOD, I wish someone could help me find this book.

I will never have that issue again, because when I realized how many books I was reading, I created my own library to keep up with what I have read.
Hopefully someone knows this story and can email me

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Hi Yvonne - great to have you in our group!! Sounds like the challenges will be good for you ~ lots of options to choose from to help you puck your books each month.

Re the book you can’t remember- I’d suggest you post in one of our Help Me book threads. Hopefully it will ring a bell for someone. (I know I haven’t read it 🙂) I’ll post a link in this thread when I get back on my laptop.

Also please remove your email from your post. We can’t control who looks at these threads and you could end up with a heap of junk mail!! If someone knows the book, they can send you a message through goodreads.

Welcome to the group Kay!! I found the best way to find more books I might like was to check out the challenge threads and what everyone was posting in there (I'd join the challenge of course as well ;). If I then noticed the same member posting books that appealed to me, I'd send a friend request...

The other great option if you are looking for new material is to join the Pick It For Me monthly challenge. The new one for December should be up soon, but in the meantime, check out the November one for how it works:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

There's only a small window (a few days) between the challenge opening to join and then closing it for pairing - so if you are interested, keep an eye on that monthly folder!

Jump in to any of the challenges, especially the monthly ones ~ plenty of activity there and members to connect with. We are all very friendly :)
