Romance Readers Reading Challenges discussion

Hi, I'm Matea and as you can see I'm new. I love reading books especially romances and i need help cause i have a big TBR but always something new comes up and the year passes and TBR is only getting bigger and bigger and don't know where to start.
I would also like to meet new cool people with whom i can talk about books all the time.
oh and Merry Christmas everyone.

Welcome to the group Matea! LOL - your problem with the ever-growing TBR shelf is a common problem here and may well worsen once you join the challenges ~ so many more books to check out!!

There are heaps of challenge options floating around, especially as we start the new year! Just ask any of us for clarification ~ members are willing to help out wherever 🙂 And it’s a great way to find friends with similar reading interests!

I've been in Goodreads for a while, but I'm still discovering groups, because I want to meet people like me (lovers of books)

I started to read Romantic Genre (specifically Romantic Historic) in 2012 (when I was in my freshman year of College)

Besides books: I love dogs, horses, dolphins and elephants; I'm a lawyer, and I adore food of Pinapple and Coconut's and Red Velvet's flavor.

Greetings, Like many here I've been on GoodReads for quite a while but haven't even looked at the groups until today.
usually I just use GoodReads to track the books I'm reading and update my shelves and such.

I read primarily Romance as I read for pleasure and want something happy. Too much of the other elsewhere. I don't watch TV but read...a lot. The last couple years I've read over 300 books each year.

A little crazy and it certainly isn't a goal of mine to read that much but with the great audiobooks that are so readily available and easy to access these days (no more checking out CDs from the library) and the fact that I can speed them up I get through a lot of material.

These days I get books from the library, Kindle Unlimited, Scribd and Audible mostly (I do the romance package) and I often read while doing other activities.

I have a large TBR list but I rarely look at it. I just peruse the many offerings, look at suggestions based on previous reads and try something new. I've definitely quit reading a lot of books this year and last year as I don't have much patience with a bad storyline so getting some better quality recommendations might be in order.

Welcome Lori!! your reading sounds like a lot of us here ~ heaps of audio mixed in with some other ebooks. Hopefully you will find some new material but it may well be us checking our your shelves for inspiration ;)

My name is Erin La Rosa, and I'm an author of two non-fiction books (Womanskills, and The Big Redhead Book). I've always been a voracious reader, but weirdly I've only gotten into romance novels within the last two years and, well, I'm obsessed. I read a book every day or two!

My 2019 goal is to get more active in the romance community — I want to talk about the books I've read, get recommendations, and (hopefully) make some new like-minded friends. I'm currently writing a romance novel as well, so this year will truly be my year of romance!

Hmm, okay, well I am Amanda. I am new to Goodreads and therefore VERY new to book groups. I have over 300 books on my Kindle Fire. Since I am currently unemployed, it seems it is the only way I am still able to read since I cannot afford to purchase books all the time. I welcome any help anybody can offer me on exactly what a Book group is/does. Romance novels of any type are my most enjoyed reading. Please message with any advice.

Hi Amanda - welcome to the group! We pretty much use our challenges to decide what we'll read next ~ at least that's how I predominantly use my book groups ;) I have a heap of books to read (or reread ~ love my rereads of favorites!) and doing the challenges helps me sort through what to go with next :)

Its also a great place to see what new books on the scene. When you work out who reads books you also like, its really helpful to see what they are reading or have added to their shelves :D

Welcome Amanda! I agree with what Jane has already said. Groups are a good way to find new books (check out your library for ebooks too!) and find other like minded readers. I love challenges - they help me figure out what to read next and push me to read even more. And it is lots of fun trying to fit books into the different categories too!

I'm Laurie Gene and I'm a romance Indie author. 4 years ago I was diagnosed with MS (multiple sclerosis) and had to cut my hours at work to part-time. With all that extra time I started reading and writing. I love reading romance, mystery, suspense, and Christian books.

Hello, I'm abby. I'm an old goodreads member, but have been inactive until this month when I started re-reading Julia Quinn's Bridgerton series. I had stopped reading romance novels a few years ago when I became pre-occupied with fantasy novels. Now that I have re-discovered my love for them again, I want to catch up on all the great romance novels that were released in the last couple of years that I haven't read yet. :)
