I'm Shelly(that's my nickname for anyone wondering). I just found out that Goodreads had groups just a few minutes ago and as a huge romance fan I thought that I would join one. I'm usually sticking to particular types of books and I'm not very adventurous in my book choices so I'm very excited to read some books out of my comfort zone. Also, I heard that this group has challenges and I was wondering if I could join any?

Shelly - you can join most of the challenges at any time. There are a few team and interactive challenges that need a sign up for team/group allocation - those are all closed at the moment. It should be obvious which challenges close by a particular date - everything else is fair game :)

Hi everyone I'm val and a newbie here. I'm starting to read a lot more now that my life has somewhat stabilized, and would always love suggestions. Thing is, I've never read a romance book before cz I think they're not realistic and sometimes the covers...ugh (okay that's sounds horrible) but then I asked myself, If you haven't tried it, how do you know you don't like it?

No, what I meant to say is, I grew up catholic and didn't really read with romance books around the house, just fantasy or classic novels plus people are judging like I’ll never understand why someone enjoys trashing another person for reading certain genres, what satisfaction do they get from doing that???

but Anyway, I read the other day cz of the movie duh and I liked it and loved the cover too? LoL
Now I feel like I need more (okay don't laugh at me) so if anyone is kind enough to gimme recs please...

Attitudes toward romance readers is pretty frustrating, and can really impact choices and even just picking up a book. Surely anything that gets ppl to read is a good thing and should be embraced no matter what the subject matter...

I'm Mia, I have been reading romance for around 3 years and only last year purchased a kindle and KU and I'm desperate for some good romance books recommendations! Wow, what a warm and exciting welcome to goodreads and particularly, the challenge thread.
I am Jessie, and I love to read, write, indulge and be creative.

What do I read - romance, fantasy, sci-fi, and a bunch of my favorite authors. Due to my day job, I reserve my reading time to fun stuff that is enjoyable with a good story line but allows the reader to be taken on a journey.

What do I write - I am currently going through the copyediting process for my first novel. Will keep you posted.

What do I indulge in - chocolate, tea, writing and creativity.

Currently living in Victoria, Australia. I am looking forward to completing a fun 12 book reading challenge this year.

I just joined this group because I love romance books so much. I would like to get my TBR under control and hopefully find some friends who like romance books as much as I do. I read almost anything romance but don't like SciFi. And I absolutely love the Vampire Academy series! I just started reading the popular authors ( like Colleen Hoover, Tessa Dare my favorites!) and I would like to find more books which suite my taste.

Welcome Janet!! Local libraries are terrific - I live in the 'back of beyond' but was lucky enough to join the library in our State capital. It allows digital borrowing, and as I live 6 hours away, its the only way to get the sort of books I'm vaguely interested in reading... 😊

LOL - when I first joined this group I didn't think I'd do the challenges. I thought I'd just mill around, checking out the books. But once I did my first challenge, I was hooked! And now I find it really hard to pick up a book to read unless I have selected it from a challenge!

Hi All! I'm Anne and I am absolutely obsessed with reading romance and my local library! This is my first year actually keeping track of what I'm reading and the number's way higher than I thought (yikes)! It's also my first year writing reviews so I am always looking for recommendations and tips. I love contemporary romances (especially a good musician/rockstar), but I also have been getting into historical, and YA contemporary.
