Grace (bookslikebreathing) | 102 comments I was lucky enough to have City of Bones picked for me by Pam and I picked it for Jessica. I have been dying to read this series for so long. I think I may be one of the few people on the planet who hasn't read it but if you are one of the few (or want to reread) feel free to join us in an October Buddy Read of City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare

PS. I am not sure if I did this right :)

Grace (bookslikebreathing) | 102 comments October 1st is when I am starting but you can join in whenever.

message 4: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments I'm planning to read City of Bones this month but I'm not sure that I can start on the 1st. Anyhow, I'll join if I can. :)

message 6: by Grace (new)

Grace (bookslikebreathing) | 102 comments Actually strike October 1st off. I have review books due all next week. So I am good for next week or the week after that.

message 7: by Tuğçe (new)

Tuğçe Gökırmak (tugcenidasevin) great than next week seems fine for me (or the week after if that's preferred)

message 8: by Grace (last edited Sep 30, 2011 10:36PM) (new)

Grace (bookslikebreathing) | 102 comments Next week sounds perfect. I am going to be needing to read something fun. I am going to be reviewing and baking all of this weekend and into next week.

I'm thinking I may be starting to read on the 8th or 9th. Depending on when I finish baking.

message 9: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments Next week or the next works great for me.

message 10: by Tuğçe (new)

Tuğçe Gökırmak (tugcenidasevin) Great then! I will be back around the 8th to see when we're starting :)

message 11: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments I might join for this buddy read as well if time permits.

message 12: by Tuğçe (new)

Tuğçe Gökırmak (tugcenidasevin) Yay, great! now leaving for good for a saturday night out ;) happy readings!

message 13: by Christine (new)

Christine | 955 comments I plan on reading this book this month, too! I'll come back and see if I can fit it in at the same time as everyone else.

message 14: by Grace (new)

Grace (bookslikebreathing) | 102 comments I just started reading. Literally, I am on page 1. If anyone is reading in the soontime. I'll be here.

That had me worried to but I am at about the same place right now and it seems good. Jace is definitely a step up from Emoward.

message 16: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments Emoward! LOLOLOL! Was that a typo?

I'm ready to start today.

message 17: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments I forgot about this BR. Oh well, I'm off to bed now. I'll start tomorrow. Pace's probably going to be slow though.

message 18: by Tuğçe (new)

Tuğçe Gökırmak (tugcenidasevin) i'll have to second you on the Vi, i will try starting tonight. 24hrs a day is way too short :)

Hehe. No it wasn't. I call him that among other nicknames...Dumbward, Wimpward, Stalkerward etc... :)

Vi | 2794 comments Gasp, I remember this book. I do! I think I read it about a year or so ago - atleast, I attempted to but I dropped it halfway or so. This was pre-GR which is why I don't have records, I guess. Clary keeps slapping Jace, right?! Well, commence Take 2 of City of Bones.

message 21: by Grace (new)

Grace (bookslikebreathing) | 102 comments I'm on Chap 5 and she has slapped Jace twice so far I think. Maybe I should keep a tally.

message 22: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments Just started...so far so good.

Yikes! Slapping! I hate that...hmmm...hopefully I won't want to kill Clary by the end.

message 23: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments That's it. We should all slap her so she knows how it feels.

message 24: by Tuğçe (new)

Tuğçe Gökırmak (tugcenidasevin) i am in the middle of chapter5 :) liking it so far but can't say it is much different than the similar sort of YA paranormal/uf books out there. Liked Jase and can't believe Clary's obliviousness over Simon.

message 25: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments Yep, I remember that distinctly from my before DNF. I think the author meant the slapping to prove independence or something for Clary. But it just stinks.

Grace, I think I stopped counting the slaps after a while because they were just too numerous and also because I stopped reading the book.

message 26: by Gracie (new)

Gracie | 21 comments I'm readinf this book called Halo, its about these three angles that come down to earth so they can learn the human ways. The youngest girl starts to fall in love with a mortal, but thats against the angles rules or somthing like that. But she starts to brake all kinds of rules. I guess this book is ok, i'd like to find a more romantic, interesting, heart throbbing book.

If anyone has any ideas for me i'd gladly take them!

That's just proves she's immature and that Jace is a young guy. A real man would have told her the first time - I'll allow you this first one but if you slap me again, I'll slap you back.

message 29: by Grace (new)

Grace (bookslikebreathing) | 102 comments I really want Isabelle to just give her a good hard punch right now. Why couldn't Isabelle have been the heroine?

Tuğçe Gökırmak (tugcenidasevin) Grace wrote: "I really want Isabelle to just give her a good hard punch right now. Why couldn't Isabelle have been the heroine?"

i havent see much of isabelle yet but i cant say i liked her that much either, she was kind of into herself a little too much and maybe a little arrogant -though not sure if thats just the right word.

message 31: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments Yep, I agree DG.

message 32: by Tuğçe (new)

Tuğçe Gökırmak (tugcenidasevin) can please someone tell me, how come Simon is the first human in the institution and noone asks why he was brought or was pissed off about him being there and their secrecy broken or something?
And why does Jace even care about Clary at all? And Valentine was supposed to be dead and it turns out he wasn't and anyone was hardly surprised?

message 33: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments I'm not there yet so I can't comment.

message 34: by Grace (new)

Grace (bookslikebreathing) | 102 comments I have no idea why Jace cared about Clary at all. She was petulant throughout most of the book. I don't even know if we can attribute it to her age or her personality.

I just finished the book. I found myself wanting to bash Clary's head in most of the time but I loved Jace. I really did like the book though. It was a great time suck and that twist toward the end...Ugh

message 35: by Tuğçe (new)

Tuğçe Gökırmak (tugcenidasevin) I had to stop reading this a few days for a buddy read BOM in another group. Anyway I am back to it today and Jase finally kissed her, Simon finally confessed and she is all kind of screwed now :) And why am I so happy, I don't know, lol!

I have to say, I had a good re-start ...

message 36: by Tuğçe (new)

Tuğçe Gökırmak (tugcenidasevin) Ok! I am still trying to recover from the twist. I have finished the book yesterday and come on, are they seriously related??? That's really awkward!!

message 37: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments Nida, surely you can guess how it will turn out.

I'm thinking of giving up on this book. I haven't picked it up after the halfway mark and I've finished 3-4 books... Hmmm, what to do??

message 38: by Theodora (new)

Theodora (virals) | 1 comments oh my gosh love this book about to read the fourth book in the series city of fallen angels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yay!!!!
