Josiah (kenjenningsjeopardy74) It's time for one of my all-time favorites now: Rodman Philbrick, author of Freak the Mighty, Max The Mighty and The Last Book in the Universe, among others.

Josiah (kenjenningsjeopardy74) Based on what I know of preposition usage in Spanish names, I'm going to go for a "C" name here, rather than a "D" one. Carol Matas

message 122: by Viv (new)

Viv (a_pocky_box) Haha works for me :) I'm going to start run out of "M" authors soon.

Megan Whalen Turner

message 123: by Josiah (new)

Josiah (kenjenningsjeopardy74) Tomie dePaola, perhaps my all-time favorite author of picture books.

message 124: by Viv (new)

Viv (a_pocky_box) I'm taking a guess that it is "D" this time haha correct me if I'm wrong. I too have limited Spanish. My Spanish only extend in simple phrases and food. Basically enough for me to survive.

Dante Alighieri

message 125: by Josiah (new)

Josiah (kenjenningsjeopardy74) It would be the "D" in this case. dePaola is actually an Italian name, though, but like Spanish, is grouped as one of the Romance Languages.

Alexander Key

message 126: by Viv (new)

Viv (a_pocky_box) Oh I can see why it is an Italian name now.

Kenneth Grahame

Adriana Toni Morrison

I don't particularly like this person.

message 130: by Josiah (new)

Josiah (kenjenningsjeopardy74) You're not a big fan of Toni Morrison? I haven't read much of her writing, but I did like Little Cloud and Lady Wind.

Margaret Wise Brown

message 131: by Adriana (new)

Adriana I really shouldn't say that because I only read one book of hers but still. It was The Bluest Eye

I have one of her books on my "to-read" list.
Death Comes for the Archbishop

Willa Cather

message 134: by Josiah (new)

Josiah (kenjenningsjeopardy74) Ah, The Bluest Eye. That's a book that always makes it onto any recent list of most frequently banned books in the U.S. I've never actually read it, though.

Here's another one of my personal favorite authors: Clyde Robert Bulla. My favorite one of his books is Shoeshine Girl.

message 135: by Adriana (new)

Adriana You say that but you only gave it a three.

LMAO! I didn't realize that they only have one sentence on the E-reader edition. If you look on the other editions, the summary is more in depth. HAHA

Josiah (kenjenningsjeopardy74) Clyde Robert Bulla's Shoeshine Girl may not have blown my mind in a way that would push me to rate it as high as four or five stars, but it's an excellent story, nonetheless. I would have actually rated it as three and a half stars, if that option were available.

Sarah Lindsay Schmidt, author of the rare 1934 Newbery Honor book New Land: A Novel for Boys and Girls.

Adriana Oh. Okay.

Sue Monk Kidd

Adriana Stormy Glen!!?? That sounds so familiar... That's an awesome first name. It would have been hilarious if she was a weather forecaster.

Gary Paulsen I heart Gary Paulsen's book Hatchet!

Hmm... Didn't really like Hatchet

message 146: by Adriana (new)

Adriana .......................................................................................................................................Sorry. It's one of my favorites. It was one of the books that made me love nature/survival stories.

Plato

Could never get into The Golden Compass but my brother liked it.
