Three Cups of Tea discussion

Although the story of Three Cups of Tea is very inspiring, I’m finding that the plot is progressing slower than I had hoped. I guess the point in doing that may be to really describe all the work it took the get his dreams going, but in practice it makes the book very prolonged. Despite the slow- moving plot I’m still so intrigued by the characters that I can’t help but read on to see how their aspirations play out. Hopefully, the plot will pick up, but even if it doesn’t I’ll still enjoy reading about the impossible dream Mortenson set out to accomplish, and all of the incredible people he meets along the way.

I didn't find this but I can understand why you might think so - in which case I should warn you that the sequel Stones Into Schools is deliberately even slower, following subsequent events after Three Cups of Tea in chronological order, focusing more on the day to day and work on the ground rather than the vision as a whole. Three Cups of Tea has its weaknesses as a book, but to look through that and see what was achieved and to appreciate the story is the key I feel.

Perhaps this is just a personal thing, but I found some of the latter chapters a bit of a drag because there was no action. They seemed like a recollection of personal thoughts rather which do not necessarily have anything to do with the plot.

Perhaps its what C.Knoell is trying to say. Fantastic read nonetheless!
