Jason Tan Just finished Only Time Will Tell. This book is Jeffrey Archer at his best. I have to admit, it's the best book I've read so far (out of 18 books) for 2011. It's such an emotional book. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves Mr. Archer's previous works.

Currently starting on 11/22/63. Anyone else is reading this?

I recently discovered Lee Child and really like his books. I'm reading them in order and I haven't been disappointed in any of his books so far.

Probably need to start with the Jack Reacher series myself. Seems like everyone is raving about it. Must be really good.

Libby I'm reading THE INFORMANT by THomas Perry. It's one of the sequels to his very first novel, THE BUTCHER'S BOY. This is a man who knows how to tell a story. The incredible thing is that most of it is narrative, and you might think it would be boring. But it's not. It's addictive.

I should say I have an advanced copy. It will be out in May.

Tay | 37 comments Just finished Blindsighted

I thought it was okay. She is a good storyteller but there were too many characters that I got mixed up for a little bit. I figured out the killer about halfway in but still some good things about it but there were some minor flaws in it.

message 120: by Lisa (new)

Lisa James (sthwnd) I got bored with the classic list I started working on, LOL, although I finished Jazz & loved it. I actually picked up a "free read" book that's been sitting on my shelf for months:

The Pirate's Daughter-it's about a mother, daughter, & Errol Flynn's sojourn in Jamaica. So far it's been a light, easy read, but a good one too.

message 121: by Bill (new)

Bill I am currently reading A Touch Of Frost by R.D. Wingfield and enjoying very much. I've just started The Leper of Saint Giles by Ellis Peters, the 5th in the Cadfael series.

Libby Just started RAVEN BLACK by Ann Cleves which is set on the Shetland Islands. Wasn't sure I would like that isolated a setting, but it's a terrific read. Won a Dagger Award too... Raven Black by Ann Cleeves

message 125: by Lisa (new)

Lisa James (sthwnd) I recently finished Jazz by Toni Morrison, The Cartoon History of the United States, The Pirate's Daughter & Matanzas Bay.

Am currently starting The Robber Bride, & The Electric Kool Aid Acid Test. Both of those are 1001 Boxall list books.

I'm at 81 for my 100 book challenge since I started counting, but I know I read more than that, WAY more than that. I just have to keep better track next year, LOL.

Mike (mikealmond) | 2 comments Reading Blue Blood with some urgency. This is an odd book for me. I have had to renew it twice at the library because it is simply a "dense" book. I love the author's literacy and skill with the language and obvious knowledge of "the job" - I served as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff in our county and so can identify with some small part of his observations. His tendency to wander off into family histories, etc. is interesting, but I'm not sure germane to the main story. I have some extra time this week and plan on attacking this book front-on and getting through it.

I am reading The Bleeding Room by Barry Napier if you like books about haunted houses, this is REALLY good! It is so hard to put down! The only reason I have not finished it yet is because I have such a horrible cold and my eyes keep watering up so bad I can't see so I have to take breaks! Oh that and my kids keep distracting me! Dang kids! =P (teasing of course)

I read all three of these books and while I enjoyed the latter two, The Winter Rose and The Wild Rose, neither of them entranced me quite the way the first one did. Don;t get me wrong they are worthwhile reads but I simply loved The Tea Rose.
