After finishing the first two books of the Nessantico Cycle, about half way through book three A Magic of Dawn (Nessantico Cycle, #3) by S.L. Farrell . A very good fantasy trilogy, I really enjoyed it!

message 302: by Jillyn (new)

Jillyn I took a break from The Darkening Dream by Andy Gavin to read The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins , but now I'm back.

message 303: by Nancy from NJ (new)

message 304: by The Pirate Ghost (new)

The Pirate Ghost (Formerly known as the Curmudgeon) (pirateghost) Finished Snake Skin, started The Burning Sky by Joseph Robert Lewis. Its Steampunk-fantasy and pretty cool. Some Gender bending...well role bending really.

So far it's good.
The Burning Sky (Halcyon #1) by Joseph Robert Lewis

Katz Nancy from NJ (nancyk18) Just finished Deal Breaker and now have the horrible job of picking out new books. LOL. I have about 10 books from the library here - all new titles - and 4 audiotapes and of course my books and e books sooooooooooooo, this may take some time. There is no clear cut winner.

I just finished reading The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood. It was really good. I'm now getting back to A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess.

Also, i've read Fatal Voyage and i really liked it so i hope you enjoy it too :)

message 307: by Nancy from NJ (new)

Katz Nancy from NJ (nancyk18) I had a fun time picking out my next reads. I will be reading Home Front by Kristin Hannah and The Rose Garden by Susan Kearsley and listening to A Thread of Grace by Mary Doria Russell.

Would you believe I cancelled all of my plans and appointments so I could simply read?

message 309: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I finished 11/22/63 by Stephen King this afternoon and it was brilliant! Now I've started reading Four to Score by Janet Evanovich.

message 310: by Nancy from NJ (new)

Katz Nancy from NJ (nancyk18) Now I really wonder why I couldn't get into 11/22/63.

I'm reading A Clockwork Orange as well. I'm enjoying quite a bit. How are you finding it so far? Btw, The Handmaid's Tale is a favourite of mine. Glad you enjoyed. Have you seen the movie? It's quite interesting too.

message 312: by Nancy from NJ (new)

Katz Nancy from NJ (nancyk18) I have made an executive decision to stop listening to A Thread of Grace and read it instead. There are lots of names and as one reviewer said, "You better read this in one day to remember all of the people." The author did put in a list of main characters at the front of the book so I am hopin g I can keep people straight. I also plan to keep a cheat sheet with the names of people and how they fit into this story. I am enjoying what I listenend to so far.

message 313: by Jillyn (new)

Jillyn I've put a pause on The Darkening Dream, currently reading Can I Get an Amen?

Hmm, that's been on my to-read list for a while, is it decent? I'm not a fan of Twilight but I love teen romances in general, is there at least a satisfying romance?

message 322: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I've just started reading Second Glance by Jodi Picoult this evening.

message 323: by Nancy from NJ (new)

Katz Nancy from NJ (nancyk18) I'm taking off a few days of reading - oh no - will I survive. I seem to be in the book doldrums with little that interests me.

Hmm, maybe I'll look for it at my local 2nd hand bookstore :)

message 325: by Jillyn (new)

Katz Nancy from NJ (nancyk18) Although this is not reading necessarily, I did finish an audio book last night Beat the Reaper by Josh Brazell, a very quirky read which went downhill. This morning I began listening to Split Second by David Baldacci whom I have hardly read.

I tried reading Beat the Reaper but he dropped so many f bombs it wasn't adding anything to the story so I gave up after the first chapter.

I've read most of Baldacci's books and they are very good. I think you'll like him.

Katz Nancy from NJ (nancyk18) Tay said, "I tried reading Beat the Reaper but he dropped so many f bombs it wasn't adding anything to the story so I gave up after the first chapter."

I listenend to this and didn't caree for the use of the forward which somewhat continued throughout the book. I was intrigued but also opted not to read the next book.

I am enjoying Split Second and will look for the second book from this series. Can you recommend some titles thyt you really liked from Baldacci?

message 329: by Nancy from NJ (new)

Katz Nancy from NJ (nancyk18) I jusr finished Split Second and wasn't thrilled with the title. It sort of fizzled at the end for me. Will still give it three stars cause I did enjoy some parts.

Now listening to Private #1 Suspect. I still enjoy Patterson's books especially with Alex Cross.

Off to see Harlan Coben at one of the few Indie stores in NJ.

message 330: by Jillyn (new)

Jillyn I just started Glitter in the Sun A Bible Study Searching for Truth in the Twilight Saga by Jane Wells

I've been trying to read The Darkening dream but I'm just not sure about the plot right now :(

message 332: by Jillyn (new)

Jillyn I'm about 40% done with it, but I feel like I'm being forced to read it.... It somehow manages to have too much going on (Egypt, vampires, mages, etc.) and yet nothing is happening.

I thought I was the only one who did this! It does help to get through some of the slower reads sometimes.

message 338: by Jillyn (new)

Jillyn I'm reading Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, #2) by Suzanne Collins - so excited!

message 339: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) Right now I'm reading Blue Sky Days by Marie Landry. I got it free as one of those read & review things. I'm 5 or 6 chapters into it so far and it's pretty boring. the novel is not very well written and its meant to be a YA romance novel but the main characters who are 19 & 22 talk like their in their 60's! And if that wasn't bad enough, the love story is far too unrealistic, so I'm finding it very hard to connect with the characters. I think this is one novel where I'm definitely going to struggle through it.
