Challenge: 50 Books discussion

Remember when some people were predicting the end of the world back in May? Well, the best before date got bumped up this October, so me and Tiffany want to know:

If you knew the world were going to end in a week, what one book from your to-read list would you make sure to read?

The so far untitled final book in Meljean Brook's Guardian series. Presuming you don't mean this week.
If you mean this week.... YIKES! Um... "Everything I Know About Love I Learned From Romance Novels" by Sarah Wendell since she won't be at Anderson's next week, and I was holding off so I could buy it there.

Can I re-read something? To Kill a Mockingbird would be re-read. And on the something new list, that's hard. I have a long list. Old books that I have never read - newly published. I'll get back to you on that.

Oh god, nightmare scenario. I am never more aware of my limited time on earth than when I am thinking about the vast array of books and the futility of my quest of actually reading the 'best' of them. *sighs*

Your question has put my under considerable stress. My choice would be the collected short stories of Jorge Luis Borges. It has to be something beautiful and sublime. Borges is both those things.

Zee, you are so right. Borges' collected short stories would probably be my ideal re-read.

Now, if I were going to go with something new, that's a good question. My to-read list is so large and tantalizing! It might have to be the recent'The Metaphysics of the Incarnation', edited by Marmadoro and Hill; I've been salivating over that since I first heard it was coming out.
