I've read Game of Thrones and Clash of Kings so far! I've seen the first few episodes of the HBO series, and I think it's fantastic. It follows the books much more closely than I expected, the music is great, and I liked that they aged up the kids a few years. What do you think? They definitely portray Cersei as a more sympathetic character; she and Jaime would be almost romantic if it wasn't a.) disgusting and b.) they weren't such awful people.

Pritam Dasgupta I liked addition of Ros. :P
But no Blackfish =/

I find it's ironic how Jaime is like "I've never lain with any woman but Cersei" while she's such a slut!

Ros was a good addition, I thought...I'm not terribly upset about the Blackfish not being there. He's mainly important for plot purposes, I thought, and not a very interesting character in his own right. He just helps out Robb and gives useful information about what's happening.

There are too much unnecessary violent and nudity in the show.

The violence and nudity in the show are the same (if not less) as in the books! I think it's good they've stayed close to the books!

And I love that war isn't made more beautiful as it is (like in LotR (which I loved, don't get me wrong) you hardly see any blood or dirt during the war..)

Really? Hmmm. It's seem like I have to watch the show again when it comes to DVD.

There is much more gratuitous sex in the TV series than there is in the first book - however later books increasingly have more sex scenes.

Ros is a good example of this - a terrible added character whose only purpose seems to be to take her clothes off while the main characters deliver some exposition.

Renée Ros was added to translate the story from the books to screen. Like the scene with Littlefinger, where he explains his ambitions to her.

And of course it had to be a whore, because it's said in the books a lot that the whores know a lot!

I think the character Ros is a great addition! She's fun!

Ah! That must explain it.

Compared to some TV series I've seen, the sex isn't gratuitous. It actually serves a purpose and is basically the same as in the book. I actually thought most of the sex scenes were tastefully done. By contrast, I'm thinking of the show The Tudors, which is basically Renaissance porn and has Henry VIII screwing a different girl (or boy) every other scene. If people are having sex in GoT, there's usually a reason for it that advances plot or shows character.

Pritam Dasgupta Well put Laura! I also watched The Tudors, so I know what you're talking about.

I've never watched The Tudors but it's reputation precedes it. While I agree that sex scenes in GoT is not bad, I still don't like it. May be it's personal test.

I guess it's just personal preference. Although, did anyone notice that everyone in the TV series does it doggy-style, haha...? Maybe they thought that would somehow be less offensive...

Laura The sex doesn't bother me quite so much as how they portrayed how it came to be. The Lannisters are incestuous sure, but, for example, the way Khal Drogo and Daenerys first had intercourse. I felt like it was rushed in the show. There was more to it than consummation. He wasn't a brute with her. I was sad that they changed their relationship in that way. http://www.theatlantic.com/entertainm...
This article mentions the doggie-style thing. lol

Laura I love the show, although the books are WAY better. Oh, and I loved the tudors and am very happy to see an addition from the Tudors in the next season!!

Yeah, I thought the show would have him be more gentle with her like he was in the books. He did seem to feel sorry for her, but it seemed rushed like you said. I guess they wanted to wait until later to develop the romantic side of their relationship?

Nicole and now it's over :( I'm going to miss KD

Will IV I think a better comparison for the show is Rome. They are both done in VERY similar fashions.

Sabine Reed I personally think the show is better than the book - and that fact totally surprised me. I am a reader first, so I usually like the books and not movies or show. But I found the book too violent and more politics than I like in a fantasy book.

ahaha, I did watch the tudor and yeah if you want to compare GoT has less porn in it.
I like the book and show, for me it's completing each other. I read and watch the show and see my imagination when I read the book become such real on the show.
