Kristy | 8 comments that is like the Highlander series by Karen Marie Moning....i like the old time/new age clash of these books...and im almost done with this series now....and at a loss what to read next!

Alana ~ The Book Pimp (loonyalana) | 538 comments Have you read A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1) by Deborah Harkness

It's only the first book in the series- the rest have not come out yet. But it has a great mixture of detailed history while being set in modern day.

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 608 comments A Discovery of Witches is the best book I have read this year. A month after I finished it I bought the audiobook and sadly on the last disk now. I could pick up the book and read it again except I have a stack here I haven't read yet. I bet I read it again before the year is out.

I haven't read the Highlander series so can't compare but A Discovery of Witches is kind of a one of a kind.

Kristy | 8 comments no i haven't ty for the recommendation!! i'll def check it out

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 608 comments Have you read Outlander? Scotland - time travel. IMO it's the top of all Scotland series. Very gritty/real/graphic - probably the most realistic depiction of 13th century Scotland written and an incredible love story. No couple out there like Jamie and Claire.

Totally agree! Nothing compares....

Kristy | 8 comments ohh that one looks promising!!! def want to read that!!!

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 608 comments It's beyond wonderful. I read it for the first time about 7 years ago. My brother, my son and his wife have all read it. My son wasn't interested so I gave him a hardback of Outlander for Christmas two years ago and a bag with all the other books in it to borrow. He called me a couple of weeks later and said he had not slept for two weeks and just finished the last book and "When does the next one come out?" Actually referring to my recommendation above for A Discovery of Witches, it was on an Outlander discussion list that I heard about that one from fans looking for something to read before the next Outlander book.

Michelle(Chelle) aka Nightshade - Cake Whisperer (michmag) Outlander is by far one of the best books and series around. I have never been big on the time travel thing but Diana Gabaldon does it justice. I have read this series many times. Jamie Fraser is the epitome of the perfect man in my opinion. A must read.

Allison Kraft (allisonkraft) | 9 comments If you like the time travel aspect, Lynn Kurland's books are similar. Lots of romance, and each book follows a different couple, but the families are recurring, so characters from previous books pop up in new ones. One family is the De Piagets and the other is the MacLeods. There's a reading order on her site here: http://www.lynnkurland.com/books-by-l... The first of each is below.

Dance Through Time (MacLeod 1) by Lynn Kurland Another Chance to Dream (De Piaget, #1) by Lynn Kurland

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 608 comments Yes, Michelle, Jamie Fraser = perfect man.

Karen Marie Moning is one of my favorite authors! If you havent read her Fever series i suggest you pick them up as they were amazing as well! Also to switch authors i found Debbie Mazzuca to write very well and on the same topic historical highland romance.
Bloodfever (Fever, #2) by Karen Marie Moning Faefever (Fever, #3) by Karen Marie Moning Dreamfever (Fever, #4) by Karen Marie Moning Dreamfever (Fever, #4) by Karen Marie Moning Shadowfever (Fever, #5) by Karen Marie Moning
Lord Of The Isles by Debbie Mazzuca Warrior Of The Isles by Debbie Mazzuca King of the Isles by Debbie Mazzuca

Kristy | 8 comments I have started reading Outlander....and well while i do like it...its a very slow read for me...I have no problems putting it down and coming back to it later....if I wasn't determined to finish it I probably wouldn't! lol....so I wont be reading any other books in this series. Normally I can finish a book in one or two days so far this has taken me 6 days and im only half way through the book!

Michelle(Chelle) aka Nightshade - Cake Whisperer (michmag) Kristy - I agree with you there. It is a much more involved read. I am also a 2-3 day book reader in most cases and I would say that the Outlander series averaged me 5-7 days per book. I have always loved Scottish history and I just have to say it - Jamie Fraser just really did it for me.

Shannon Dermott (shannondermott) You definitely have to read Karen Marie Monings Fever series if you loved the Highlander series. There are bits of tie in between the two.

Kristy | 8 comments I have read the Fever series :)

I guess I am the oddball Jamie Fraser is NOT doing it for me lol....to me he kinda treats her like property not a wife...and I guess that is how it was...but yeah, I am not overly fond of that lol

Laura Beth (tampabookworm) For those of you that love the Outlander series, you should check out the Into the Wilderness by Sara Donati.
