Kathleen Valentine Loved the book, did not like the movie but I'm not real crazy about Jack Nicholson.

jb Byrkit (jbbyrkit) | 2035 comments I have never read the book....but my friend says it is good.

Jason (darkfiction) | 3233 comments I loved it. One of my favorites by King.

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments I'm moving this thread to the Novels folder.

Kilgallen | 79 comments This is one of my all time favorite books. I really liked the movie buut the book is even better. Then again I always find books to be better then movies. Seriously though....read the book you will not be disappointed.

Gatorman | 8320 comments The movie is not a faithful adaptation of the book. Too many differences to even list here. I saw the film first and still really liked the book. You should definitely read it.

MJ (zombette) | 545 comments Love the book, love the movie. I sometimes feel like they aren't even the same story. A lot was changed but they both work. I find the book a hell of a lot creepier than the movie but that doesn't change the fact that the movie is tits!!

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 957 comments Thought the book was great; however, the ending felt cheesy to me and I think King could have wrapped it up much better. Thought the Kubrick movie was pure genious. I didn't like King's version of the movie, too melodramatic.

Renee (elenarenee) The first part of the book was possibly the scariest thing I read. I have a fear of diseases and well ... I didn't enjoy the second half as much. I know what I am saying is scraliage but I didn't

Char | 17459 comments I loved the book but only liked the movie.
As Gatorman said, the movie is nothing like the book. The book is much better, imho.

BTW, there is a sequel coming out in January. : )

Leigh Lane (leighmlane) | 74 comments I thought it was a great book, but it's been many years since I read it. I thought the movie was pretty good (although the miniseries was truer to the novel). I would definitely recommend reading it.

Maggie the Muskoka Library Mouse (mcurry1990) I really enjoyed this book. I wanted to read it before I saw the movie, and I'm really glad I did. The book was SO much better and scarier than the film. There were just too many changes in the movie for me to like it. The book was thrilling, scary, and REALLY hard to put down.
