Mary Findley | 143 comments Thanks, Karen! Wow! I'll take any complement that puts me in the same category as Shawn Lamb! I have been so blessed and humbled by her posts and the things I have seen of her website and books!

Mary, don't make me blush!!! ;-) Anything I've done or accomplished is by God's grace alone. Yet, I thank you with all humility for your compliment.

Rod Horncastle Wow, so there is some squabbles here. No surprise.

Anytime I see Christianity with no signs of humor or joy there's definitely a spiritual crisis.

I'm enjoying catching up on all your chats. I haven't been on Facebook in a long time. So this is kind of fun.

Janette Mapes | 84 comments Just read this entire thread & thought to myself - Wow!!
I agree with Rod - the squabbling is no surprise. People here do have a passion for what they believe that is for sure!
Personally, I did grow up watching the Wizard of Oz, and Escape to Witch Mountain. I even read The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe (which, by the way, I read thinking it was something my parents would not approve of). These things did effect me both positively and negatively. As did going to church, and going to public school, and the people I hung out with.
There were a few people in my life who had great influence over me. They showed me what it was like to be a Christian. They accepted me (and my friends) faults and all. They grounded me in The Faith of Jesus Christ. They LOVED me (the way Christ loves me).
I have read things most Christians would not approve of. I have watched things most Christians would not approve of. I've even gone places most Christians would not approve of. But I know what I believe in, who I believe in, and why I believe. I take those things with me where ever I go. I try to make those things count for God everyday.

Do I let my kids watch, do, and see Anything & everything out there? NO!
I think we have to protect our kids. My youngest daughter (she's 13). Has never been interested in the Harry Potter series or the Twilight series (she has ALOT of friends who have & are Big fans). We have had many discussions about God & what he expects from us centered around these books and movies. I don't know that it would have come up in conversation if it weren't for these being in main stream media. For that reason I am thankful this garbage is around.

My Husband says you can find evil in anything if you look hard enough. I tend to agree. I would also add that you can find good in anything if you look hard enough.
The Bible says: What was meant for evil, God meant for good.... Genesis 50:20
