You have 30 days from your start date to complete!

What books were made into movies or inspired movies? Choose your level, choose your books and get to reading! This challenge has no official start date. When you start the challenge you have 30 days from your "Start date" to complete it (please post "start date" along with your list once you have begun reading). At any time, you may change your book choices and/or level of difficulty. The only requirement for the books is that they must have inspired a movie (be it either general cinema release, limited release, direct to DVD/video, or made for TV movie- all will count.)

Easy - 2 books
Medium - 4 books
Hard - 6+ books

Here is a Listopia List that can help:

Lindy-Lane (moonbacklit) Resereved for my list.

Time Frame: 30 days from 10.28.11
Level: Easy, 2 books.
Progress: 1/2
Updated: 10.29

Book #1
I read Murder on the Orient Express (Hercule Poirot #10) by Agatha Christie Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie(10.28) This was made into a movie several times; one of the first being in 1974 and starring Albert Finney.

message 11: by Aleksandra (new)

Aleksandra (spalkiry) Hi,

I've just finished Howl's moving castle. I started it last week and I only bought it because I LOVE the movie. Already seen it about 15 times in only a few months. So, my question is - would it be OK, if I set the start date back to October 5th? That'd be great.

I'd like to "take off" with medium. My first choices would be

1. Mission: London
2. All the King's Men

Plus, if there's no problem to start with a just read book, I'll add Howl's Moving Castle. I've just ordered (like in between writing this post) The Little White Horse on Amazon, so that might be the fourth book for me. Besides I've got some other books as expansion options :).

message 12: by Aleksandra (last edited Dec 18, 2011 12:20AM) (new)

Aleksandra (spalkiry) UPDATE 15/11/11 - Changing the books, adding a start date.

FINISHED

20/11/11 - 19/12/11

2/4 - Update 30/11/11
3/5 - Update - 01/12/11 - I'm adding a book, cause I just started reading and couldn't stop until I was finished. This way I'm upgrading my challenge, although I'm still in the Medium category.

4/4 - Taking a book out, since I won't be able to finish in time.

1. Mission: London - 30/11/11 - **** Even better than I expected. I'm not precisely a fan of our own literature, but this book was hilarious at times :D.
2. All the King's Men - 23/11/11 - ** . OMG, I still can't even believe I made it. I tried reading it like three times. And yay for me - I finally beat it!
3. A Game of Thrones - 16/12/11
4. A Walk to Remember - **** I am so pleasantly surprised. I like the story anyway (from the movie) - I actually like all of Sparks' movies - but I don't like how he writes. Anyway, A Walk To Remember was definitely a pleasure and I'm thinking about even buying for my own home library.

Mission London by Alek Popov - http://imdb.to/sRjus2
All the King's Men by Robert Penn Warren - http://imdb.to/vpcFKZ
A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1) by George R.R. Martin - http://imdb.to/rCg1iv
A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks - http://imdb.to/uwp63L

P.S. If someone ever decides to watch Mission London, don't have too high expectations. It's good, it mocks all the bad traits we Bulgarians have, and it's nicely done. But it's difficult to understand and to get into for people outside of the former Eastern block. Anyway, if you decide to watch it, manage to find it and actually like it, I could only be happy about it :)!

Deborah Do upcoming movies count? One for the Money is released in theaters at the end of Jan 2012. Can the book be read now for this challenge?

Alana ~ The Book Pimp (loonyalana) | 83 comments Yes, I will count that one- they've already likely finished the movie- it's just in post-production phase. If they are already filming something, I think I'll even count that. If they are just casting something... then I don't necessarily have faith yet that it will "happen"

Maggie I'm doing this because I've been reading a lot of books like that recently. But one of the books I'm reading is the Game of Thrones series (I'm saying tv is close enough to books) and so I have no ideal how many I'll be able to read in 30 days.

And, apparently, that would be ZERO because I haven't started any of them yet. Putting this challenge off, probably until January because December is already pritmuch spoken for.
