Is anyone else really sick of people comparing these books to the lord of the rings? I mean come on.. SO many other authors have based their books off of tolkien's LOTR too. He was like the founder of the genre!
I keep reading reviews that hate on Paolini so much for dragging out the series and how his writing can't compare to tolkiens. I personally like polini's inheritance cycle more because of the dragging out of the inheritance cycle.
Honestly, he has built deep meaning in all of the characters and put a lot of information behind the plot. I have invested so much more emotion in all of the characters in the inheritance cycle because of the great detail Paolini uses!! People should just not read them if they're more into LOTR or if they can't have an open mind about new books. OK that is all.

You aren't kidding...and all those people who say Paolini "stole" his books from the Lord of the Rings? Just shut up! If you don't like them, then don't read them! It's that simple.
People look for an excuse to criticize the best ideas and the out-of-ordinary people. Paolini was very young and wrote a best-selling series that they made into a movie.
I don't really know what to say because I love both Lord of the Rings and the Inheritance Series. However, having said that I have never once compared them because the plot is quite different, as well as the way they write. Paolini as you watch his style it changes from book to book. Personally I enjoyed Eragon the most, because Paolini wasn't trying to focus on telling the story from the perspective of other characters. I felt that it was too many characters. It should have stayed simply with Roran and Eragon, and by extension Saphira.
