I came across this article about Rhianna online this morning.

Do you think pop singers tend to dress too suggestively these days? Do you think the farmer was justified in kicking her off his farm?

It's his farm, his beliefs, so he doesn't have to justify.

"Too" suggestively is up to the star and the consumers. The only public opinion that anyone should have is their own, or on behalf of their own minor children. Live and let live.

A lot of minor children are being influenced by pop stars and they way they dress. I was thinking about that influence more than anything.

And the farmer, I thought that perhaps he overreacted. I'm not sure if he received monetary compensation for the use of his land. If he did, then I would think he would have stated up front what he would deem to be acceptable use of his land.

Parents shouldn't let minor children watch tv or go online, or read, unsupervised. That's their job. It's not the censors' job. Or the neighbors', or the performers'.

So, the farmer was supposed to predict she'd take off most of her clothes? I'm sure there was a contract, but I doubt it spelled out every detail.

I know that if I was to let a film crew onto my property, there are certain things I would not allow and I would let them know up front. I would specify that there be no drugs because as the land owner, I could be legally responsible. I would specify that they were to avoid putting ruts or other damage on the land (a little hard to do farming with the ground rutted up). They would need to assure me that they would make sure they didn't let the livestock escape.

If I was devout in my religion, I would want to make sure that there be no immoral activity including nudity or near nudity. I don't think it's unreasonable to not ascertain exactly what the film crew is going to be doing.

I didn't say anything about contracts. It could be a verbal agreement along the lines of "here's my expectations while you are on my land".

As far as censureship is concerned, I wasn't talking about censureship. I was asking for group member's opinions.

I couldn't care less how they dress. All I know is that I wouldn't want my granddaughter to emulate some of the clothing choices or behaviors.

And I gave you my opinion. We disagree. Nothing personal, no hard feelings.
