This is where authors can advertise their books to the readers. Please use the thread that corresponds with the type of book you have written. Do not put your book in more than one category. I know,I know, your latest book is both Sci-Fi AND Historical Non-fiction, but you have to choose.

* Please only use this thread for your post. Individual threads will be left alone in a graveyard to see what happens.

Jason Halstead (booksbyjason) | 3 comments Shameless self promotion here but for once it doesn't bother me - I really think this is the best book I've ever written. It's set in the greater Phoenix Valley in the year 2053. It's a mix of #sci-fi and a mystery / hard boiled detective story.

Here's the blurb:
The only thing hotter than the summers in Phoenix is the temper of a police detective who can’t figure out why young girls keep disappearing. Katalina Wimple is that detective. Her obsession with the missing girls makes her the best person for the job, but it also serves as a refuge from the problems in her own life.

Battling her own demons offers coincidences impossible to ignore. Rescuing the missing girls will require Kat figuring out how much coincidence is too much, as well as fighting her desire for what she can’t have.

It's only available in an ebook format at the moment, and the link to find it at Amazon is here:
http://www.amazon.com/Lost-Girls-Dark...

If you're interest but just not sure, check out the sample on my website:

Thanks for your time!

Killers and Demons:
Come spend some time with the homicidal and savour their kills, dance with demons as they hunt and watch the blood drip slowly, sweetly from their fingers. Five horror stories where the macabre murderers don’t get caught and evil triumphs.

Delphine Pontvieux | 1 comments What a great initiative!
hello readers and writers,
Let me tell you a little about what I do in life. For one, I am an author. (I know, not very original when on Goodreads!)
My first novel, a fast-paced political thriller titled ETA-Estimated Time of Arrest was published just a year ago. You can read more about it, as well as reviews and interviews at www.missnyet.com or on my goodreads page of course. It is available everywhere in hardcover format, also as an ebook as of last December (kindle + B&N)

I also invite you to read the prologue for free at http://www.missnyet.com/Prologue.pdf

I was the recipient of the French in Chicago community Award in 2010 in the category “Arts and culture” for my novel. I am also an event reporter in Chicago for France Amerique magazine, I write articles and features for several international scuba diving publications, I am a scuba diving instructor and I also am the founder and manager of the small press Miss Nyet Publishing, LLC.
And last but not least, I am also a budding movie actress. I like all outdoors sports and “extreme’ sports in general. In short I like keeping busy and live my life to the fullest. I also enjoy reading novels in my spare time, either on my ipad when I am on the go, or holding a good old book when I am relaxing at home.

If you are on twitter, this is me
http://twitter.com/#!/missnyet
And I hope we become friends on facebook via my fan page. Just click on:

I hope you will be interested in checking out my novel and perhaps add it to your to-read shelf should it be of interest to you.

I look forward to hearing from you soon,
All the best,

K.M. Spires (kmspires) | 7 comments I think this thread will fit me nicely.

I have two books out. For the sake of simplicity (for you, because I care) here is my Smashwords profile. Both books are available for download, plus there are links to where you can buy print copies. Best of all, the first 20% of each novel is free, and can be downloaded straight to your computer so you can take those babies for a test drive before you shell out your hard earned cash. See? I told you I cared. ^_~

Here are the blurbs...

Haunted: (my novella, only $0.99) Three friends break into a manor with a dark history in order to answer the question; Do ghosts exist? A violent storm brews as the one believer amongst them begins to experience unsettling phenomena. Soon, she will discover that the house isn't the only one with secrets.

Caged: (my full length novel, $2.99) A small island off the coast of Texas, Lycaon is famous for its legendary Beast, as well as its wonderful tourist attractions. Visitors are welcomed warmly. However... Please remember that non-locals are strictly forbidden from venturing into Lycaon's interior. All outsiders must be on the last ferry to the mainland, which leaves promptly at sunset. Enjoy your stay.

Thanks for noticing me!

Jackson Spence (iamjacksonspence) | 1 comments This Devil's Dice

You can thank a twenty-seven year old heartbroken prodigy for the evolution of crime.

Meet Ethan. Stroke survivor. Scientific student supreme and the first to fabricate genetic identity, a discovery that will change humanity forever. Headhunted and financed by the Baron Vladimir Medvedkov, Ethan is given his chance to shun the scientific community and stun the world with his work. As intellectually wired as young Ethan is, he never suspects that the string of unusual murders rocking the city is linked to his cherished research. Because his only true aspiration is to find her. But is the reason he can't more frightening than losing her in the first place?

This Devil's Dice is a psychological thriller that spins out the consequences of the choices we make within the circumstances we're dealt. Rather than conventional chapters, this novel is divided into six sections. Alternative and unique in look, style and feel, it is delirious with description, subdivided by ink-stained visuals, and self-reflexive as it gets.

Valerie Douglas (valeriedouglas) | 5 comments Hi folks, my name is Valerie Douglas and I'd like to offer you something a little different - Heart of the Gods, a thriller with a touch of horror and romance.

Tales of the fabled Tomb of the Djinn and its Guardian have fascinated archaeologist Ky Farrar since a visit to the Egyptian Museum in Cairo when he was a boy. The story of the star-crossed lovers and their battle to save ancient Egypt from the Djinn made him choose his career. He believes he’s finally found it - only to discover the Tomb's Guardian is all too real. And she's as lovely as she is lethal.
Ky, however, isn't the only one searching. It's a race to reach the Tomb before the others accidentally unleash what's imprisoned there in their effort to claim the ancient artifacts which lie within - the legendary Horn of the Djinn and the Heart of the Gods.

Eileen Thornton (eileenthornton) | 8 comments My name is Eileen Thornton. My novel, The Trojan Project is an edge of the seat thriller and was first published in the UK in 2008. However, it is soon to be published in the USA. It has been re-edited for the USA market and has a brand new cover.

A peaceful night is disturbed when a strange green light rises from behind the Cheviot Hills. To Sarah, the light is frightening enough, but then a green mist descends across the valley. Its swirling tendrils, seeming to bear a life of their own as they snake across the land, can only be an omen of something sinister and evil. Her fears seem confirmed when her husband fails to return home from working on the land, and when he is still missing the following morning, she and her children set out to search for him. A terrifying discovery awaits her in the valley below her home and before long Sarah and her children find themselves caught up in a desperate search, not only for her husband, Pete, but also for the meaning of the green light. Finding herself pursued by the military, she slowly begins to realise her life, and the lives of those she loves, are in mortal danger. The Trojan Project takes us into a nightmare world where no one is quite what they seem and trust becomes a word with little meaning. Beware the green light in the sky; you never know what it hides!

Belinda Buchanan | 7 comments Hello everyone,

My latest novel, The Monster Of Silver Creek, has just been released. It is a mystery romance/romantic suspense.

Silver Creek is known for its miles of pristine shoreline. Tourists flock every summer to partake in the water activities and fun in the sun.
But a sinister killer is on the loose. A killer who feeds off of young women's fear...and leaves a most unusual calling card.
Police Chief Nathan Sommers is on the hunt, but every road leads to a dead end.

Nathan is battling his own personal demons as he tries to cope with the death of his wife. Two years have passed since, but he
feels her dying was a direct result of his actions and he is consumed by guilt.

His life becomes more complicated when he meets Katie, the pretty new owner of the bakery. Nathan slowly builds a relationship
with her, but still struggles with Jenny's death.

As he draws nearer to the killer, everything in his life suddenly comes undone. He is forced to deal with his feelings for Katie and his love for
his dead wife.

Renee Pawlish (reneepawlish) Hi everyone! I'm Renee Pawlish and I want to thank you for the opportunity to tell you a bit about my books.
I write the Reed Ferguson mystery series.
Book 1

This Doesn't Happen In The Movies

A wannabe private eye with a love of film noir and detective fiction.
A rich, attractive femme fatale.
A missing husband.
A rollicking ride to a dark and daring ending.

REVIEWS

I hope you revel in the vicarious thrills as much as I did. The plot works on all levels, the supporting cast is great, and Pawlish reveals key elements of Reeds character with light brush strokes and a master's touch.
RJ McDonnell, author of The Rock & Roll mysteries

This Doesn't Happen in the Movies isn't a typical mystery/detective story and that makes it rather refreshing...I laughed, I cringed and I enjoyed this fast-paced mystery. I look forward to reading more about Reed Ferguson's shenanigans in the future.
The Book Diva

Oh how I've missed the Sam Spade and Philip Marlowe characters that saw me with a flashlight in the dead of night flipping pages to see what happened next. Thank you Ms. Pawlish for bringing back to life this long-lost art of the detective battling against all odds and getting to the bottom of things.
Maureen with zencherry book reviews

The next book in the series, REEL ESTATE RIP-OFF, is also available.

I also have the NEPHILIM GENESIS OF EVIL, the first in the Nephilim trilogy (paranormal thrillers), TAKE FVE, a short story collection with a Reed Ferguson mystery, and THE SALLIE HOUSE: EXPOSING THE BEAST WITHIN, a non-fiction account of a haunted house investigation in Kansas.
Free samples are available at Amazon or Smashwords.

Please consider adding one (or all) of my books to your shelves and let me know what you think of them, good, bad, or indifferent. All I ask is for honest opinions. Thanks!

A few days later another victim, this time a young girl, is

surprise. It looks like Lorne has a serial killer on her hands - and
one that has become fixated on her.

As she tries to solve the crimes, Lorne is also coping with a

Steven Konkoly (stevenkonkoly) | 3 comments I just published my second novel, a gritty espionage thriller. Available in every format imaginable (except audio) blackflaggedseries.com

Black Flagged (Volume 1) by Steven Konkoly

Black Flagged...

Book One of the Black Flagged series.

A graduate of the Department of Defense's experimental Black Flag program, Daniel Petrovich carries a secret he'd rather keep buried. A secret his government has hidden in the deepest vaults of the Pentagon. Unfortunately for Daniel, some secrets carry a debt that can never be repaid, and certain acquired skills will always hold their value. Someone is trying to raise Black Flag from the dead, and bring Daniel back with it. Someone who knows all of his darkest secrets.

In exchange for the promise of a clean slate, and a chance to keep the life he has built with the woman he loves, he agrees to carry out one final mission. Now Daniel has an even bigger problem. The assassination of Mohammed Ghani, a wealthy Muslim importer, wasn't the uncomplicated mission he had been promised. Seven other prominent Muslim businessmen are killed on the same night along the East Coast, suddenly extinguishing Task Force HYDRA, the most significant counter-terrorism investigation in recent FBI history.

Daniel's life is about to disintegrate, as he becomes the focus of a relentless FBI manhunt, and the target of a vengeful CIA agent. To survive, he'll be forced to release a dark side he fought for years to keep suppressed. A dark side with few boundaries, and even fewer loyalties.

For a limited time only, at the introductory price of $ .99

The Jakarta Pandemic by Steven Konkoly

The Jakarta Pandemic...

In the late fall of 2013, a lethal pandemic virus emerges from the Islamic Republic of Indonesia and rages unchecked across every continent. When the Jakarta Flu threatens his picture perfect Maine neighborhood, Alex Fletcher, Iraq War veteran, is ready to do whatever it takes to keep his family safe. As a seasoned sales representative for Biosphere Pharmaceuticals, makers of a leading flu virus treatment, Alex understands what a deadly pandemic means for all of them. He particularly knows that strict isolation is the only guaranteed way to protect his family from the new disease.

With his family and home prepared for an extended period of seclusion, Alex has few real concerns about the growing pandemic. But as the deadliest pandemic in human history ravages northern New England, and starts to unravel the fabric of their Maine neighborhood, he starts to realize that the flu itself is the least of his problems. A mounting scarcity of food and critical supplies turns most of the neighbors against him, and Alex is forced to confront their unexpected hostility before it goes too far. Just when he thinks it can’t get any worse, the very face of human evil arrives on Durham Rd. and threatens to destroy them all. Alex and his few remaining friends band together to protect the neighborhood from a threat far deadlier than the flu, as they edge closer to the inevitable confrontation that will test the limits of their humanity.

DON'T LOOK DOWN by Barbara Scott Emmett

Set in a wintry Germany, DON'T LOOK DOWN is a fast-paced thriller that grabs you by the throat and doesn't let go until the icy denouement in a cave high in a hillside.

When Lauren Keane is kidnapped during a winter break in Nuremberg, she doesn't take it personally. The kidnappers have, after all, mistaken her for her friend Katti. When she finds a dead Albanian cleaning woman in her shower, however, she figures it's time to fight back. Especially as she is now in the frame for the murder.

Along with Wolf, her ex, who's now engaged to the frigid Ingrid, and Gunther, an undercover-or-is-he?-policeman, Lauren sets about trying to find the vanished Katti, nail a bunch of sex-traffickers and discover why the cleaner was brutally murdered.

Not that she delights in putting herself in danger but, if she's ever going to get the chance to buy her presents at the Nuremberg Christmas market, she's going to have to get the mess sorted out somehow.

Imagine Philip Marlow woke up one day with the mother of all hangovers and discovered he'd been turned into a Glaswegian. And not only that but he's saddled with a partner in the shape of his devious fat friend, The Bumble. Well, that's how our Narrator feels.

After finding a dead man hanging from a door, discovering a stash of Nazi memorabilia, and surviving a run-in with a psychotic hoodlum, the Narrator is in no mood for any more nonsense. The Bumble's explanations involving the mysterious flight of Rudolph Hess to Scotland, a deceased Glasgow car dealer, and a hoard of Nazi gold just don't ring true...

The Bumble's End is a black, humourous tale of greed, death and toffees in the run up to Christmas, Femmes fatales, old Nazis, missing gold and a Rottweiler called Tango chase through the pages. Also on the trail are three unwise men watched over by a corrupt cop with a head cold.

The Season of Goodwill just doesn't get any more funpacked than this.

Rachel Abbott (rachel_abbott) | 25 comments My thriller Only the Innocent has 26 reviews on Amazon UK and 6 on Amazon US with an average rating of 4.875 (to be absolutely precise!). There are three reviews on the Goodreads site too.

A man is dead. The killer is a woman. But what secrets lie beneath the surface - so dark that a man has to die?

Women are rarely cold blooded killers. But when famous philanthropist Hugo Fletcher is found dead, there is no doubt in anybody’s mind that the killer is a woman. And it is clear from the precision of the planning that this was no crime of passion. It was an execution.

The victim was revered the world over for his charitable work with trafficked Eastern European prostitutes, and as at least one of these girls is missing, Detective Chief Inspector Tom Douglas is certain that there has to be a connection.

But nothing is as it appears on the surface. A web of complex relationships is gradually revealed and it seems that everybody has something to hide. As each horrific secret is exposed, Tom Douglas begins to realise that this is much more than a simple murder case. And he has a terrible dilemma to face - whether to punish the guilty, or protect the innocent.

Some quick review extracts :

"I love thrillers, and have read many of them, and this one stands out as one of the best."

"The plot has a number of twists and is a roller coaster of tension."

"the plot is superb, nothing is given away to the reader"

Night Walks Softly is Anne’s story. When Anne arrives in Yellow River eager to begin married life, she expects a peaceful existence in the quiet town. Little does she know that the very day she arrives, Judy Wallburn, the French teacher who will become her predecessor, has been murdered for knowing too much. As Anne starts fixing up her old farmhouse, getting used to her mother-in-law, and writing lesson plans, she walks step by step into the same danger. From finding a “Help me” plea to meeting intriguing new people such as Deb, Christina, and Dorthea, Anne’s story meshes her first year of marriage with the sinister backdrop of crime and murder in a small town.

Robert (robertdownsbooks) | 22 comments I'm Robert Downs, and I just had my first mystery novel, Falling Immortality, published last August. My publisher and I are hoping it is the first in an ongoing series.

Book Description:

Debut, hard-boiled mystery fiction for men. Stephen King’s son describes a fitting genre as MANfiction (the opposite of Chick lit).

Casey Holden, former cop, current PI in Virginia Beach, VA, screens his clients the way he screens his women, based on whichever drop-dead gorgeous woman happens to waltz through his door first and manages to hold his attention. So when Felicity Farren, widow-at-large, struts into his office asking him to solve the two-year-old murder of her husband Artis, she intrigues him. When Casey starts digging, he learns the murder isn’t what it seems to be and he doesn’t have a big enough shovel to unearth the truth. And to top it all off, his former rival at the police department, Greg Gilman, is determined to disrupt his investigation. Casey's challenge is to learn what really happened to Artis, and why Gilman can’t seem to remove his head from his butt. And he’ll need all of his wits to complete the task.

"Think of Mike Hammer. Then think of James Bond (as portrayed in the films, not the one in the books). Merge them into a single character and you have Casey Holden, PI. Add a plot that could have come from the pen of Mickey Spillane. A cold case, sexy women, and dialog that races along like Holden's Viper fast, flashy, and eye-popping. Falling Immortality is, for fans of macho, slick talking, wise cracking sleuths, a must read." --Frederick Ramsay, author of the Ike Schwartz mysteries (Poisoned Pen Press)

"Like a post-modern Mike Hammer, Holden doesn't lack self-confidence or the quick comeback or the tendency to find trouble. Robert Downs' debut novel, Falling Immortality, skillfully tips its fedora at the hard-boiled mystery genre. It's fast-paced, tightly structured and keeps you guessing until the end. This will be a writer and series to watch." --Jon Talton, author of the David Mapstone Mysteries and the Cincinnati Casebooks

Marty Shaw (MartyShaw) | 4 comments Sorry about that Deb. I had switched it over to KDP Select but thought active coupon codes on Smashwords would still work. I thought I read that somewhere on the site, anyway. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Joyce Harmon | 9 comments Hi, I'm Joyce Harmon. About fifteen years ago, I wrote a mystery, and for various reasons I never submitted it anywhere. A few months ago, I remembered it, pulled it out of the filing cabinet, and published it on Smashwords.

Died On The Vine is the story of a tech writer married to a retired government employee; they own a winery in rural Virginia. One day, Cissy is visited by Colonel Obadiah Winslow, a man famous for believing that numerous American POWs were left alive in Vietnam. He tells Cissy that he believes her first husband, Jimmy, reported shot down and killed thirty years ago, is still alive. Three days after the visit, Cissy finds Winslow dead in the vineyard, stabbed with her current husband's pruning shears. And so the sleuthing begins...

Permit me to present you with my recently released horror/thriller.
Shadows of the Past.

An ancient ceremonial dagger has a disturbing effect on any who come into contact with it. Contained within the blade is the spirit of a primordial god who once ruled a young planet. Seeking a return to its former glory it searches for the only one who can release it from the shadows of the past. A brain damaged four year old whose fathomless black eyes hold a disturbing secret. It will do anything to possess this child.

Sam Hardin must come to terms with the guilt he feels over his wife's untimely death in time to protect his son from a primordial god that seeks to use him as a means to escape the shadows of the past.

Inspired by the Cthulhu Mythos, Shadows of the Past takes the reader on a pulse pounding journey that spans three days as the ongoing battle between good and evil is joined. Sam Hardin and Jack Griffith go head to head in a fight to the death from which only one can emerge victorious while in the balance hangs the future of all mankind.

I'm currently conducting a giveaway for two copies that will end on 2-22-2012.

Lee Holz The Abomination Assignment The Abomination Assignment (The Bowin Novels, #1) by Lee Holz

What do a Palestinian gunman in Hamburg, an al-Qaida operative in Amsterdam, a Saudi bomber in Montreal and an American self-proclaimed “Prophet of the People” with a WMD and bad intentions have in common? Dr. Thomas Bowin, noted neuroscientist and occasional government-sanctioned assassin, is on a mission to hunt them down. Add the Prophet’s naked handmaiden, a seductive spy and a beautiful Royal Canadian Army Special Operation Command major. Tom Bowin’s adventures are as interesting as they are violent.
