Hej, by the way, means Hi! Introduce yourself.

My name is emily, lowercase e, because I'm special! Anywho, I'm your quirky, happy go lucky mod, who started this group because of my cousin. This noble quest has lead my around the Internet, but I need help. I can't learn an entire language on my lonesome, and I have a little under a year to be able to hold up a conversation. So, help me out my friends!

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) I've one question though, why Danish?

emily*the ninja queen of implication* (THENINJA) | 13 comments Mod
Because my cousin Niccolena speaks Danish.

message 4: by Ross (new)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) That's good enough a reason for me, for all I know, I might end up living in Denmark, so why not eh.

emily*the ninja queen of implication* (THENINJA) | 13 comments Mod
That's the right attitude Woolfie! Now, would you kindly introduce yourself? And Velkommen!(welcome)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) Hej mit navn er Ross, og jeg bruger Google Translate!
(Hi my name is Ross, and I'm using Google translate:p)

Seriously though, thanks Em, you know my name (see above)I'm 28, live in Malaysia, working as a content editor/writer for a company that produces comics, erm what else?

Woolfie, sorry to be a jerk, but please read the rules! Though I love the enthusiasm.

message 8: by Ross (new)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) Ahh, whoopsie

emily*the ninja queen of implication* (THENINJA) | 13 comments Mod
It's okay. I only don't like google translate 'cause they don't do well with context.

message 10: by Ross (new)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) Hmm yeah that's true, so where shall we start, the verb 'to be'?

emily*the ninja queen of implication* (THENINJA) | 13 comments Mod
Though, danish isn't like most languages. It actually litterally translates into English. I'll take the rule under consideration.
Off to the making of topics!

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

message 22: by Ross (new)

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

(Hi my name is Josephine and i'm from Denmark and as you see i speak danish without any complications, so i thought i might help if you needed it...)

emily*the ninja queen of implication* (THENINJA) | 13 comments Mod
Mange Tak Josephine, Velkommen!

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

Velkommen!

(I figured most of that out with no problem! Cool! :D)

message 30: by Tom (new)

Tom (saxondane) | 5 comments Hej, Jeg hedder Tom, og jeg er Englænder. Jeg er også vil at lære Dansk språk, men jeg taler lidt Dansk og Jeg behover hjælp.

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

Velkommen, Tom!

Mange tak for joining the group! :D

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

message 33: by Tom (new)

Tom (saxondane) | 5 comments Tak :) Sorry Josephine, I occasionally get mixed up with some Swedish words :P I learnt a little Swedish a few years ago, and I suppose it's still somewhere in my mind, and so, when learning Danish it occasionally comes out a little bit Swedish :D

Jeg taler lidt dansk og svensk.
Jag talar lille danska och svenska.

But, Danish is what I want to learn, and I just have to overwrite the Swedish words with the Danish ones. I'm very much a beginner though.

message 34: by [deleted user] (new)

message 35: by Ross (new)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) Welcome Josephine and Tom, dunno what you're saying but it certainly reads interesting. I'm using the association some Danish words have with English as my 'white cane' at the moment.

message 36: by Tom (new)

Tom (saxondane) | 5 comments :D Josephine was just telling me that I was using some swedish words, rather than the Danish ones :D I get them mixed up every now and then.

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey you guys, im doing a project in school about being danish, and i wanted to ask you:
What do you think of when you think of Denmark?
And What do you know about denmark without using google?
Thank you so much =P

message 38: by Ross (new)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) Well fr what it's worth, and without using google:p to me Denmark represents the southernmost, I think of the Scandinavian nations, the capital of which is the cool sounding Copenhagen, and it's native population should never be confused with a breed of dog which has the adjective Great before it!

Also being a fan of Eurpean football, Denmark has the rare honour of winning the European Cup in 1992, a competition they didn't even qualify for, unless I'm mistaken, and the home of one of world football's most famous trio, the Laudrup brothers Michael and Brian, and of course Peter Schmeichel!
