Susan (susanthomas) | 257 comments I've found this group too late in 2011 to begin now, so I will follow along and see how things work here. In Jan 2012 I'll be ready to go!

Colby (colbz) It's a great group. When I started in on it, it was INSANE for me to do like 30 books a year. 50 books is easy for me now :)

I started late last year, didn't make it and re-started in January. I've really surprised myself. I thought that I wouldn't make it to 30, and I keep saying I won't finish but I'm at 41 now. I don't even feel like I'm cheating when I'm reading shorter books/graphic novels. It's great!

If I think about it as a book a week rather than 50 in a year, it seems a lttle more manageable. I think I'm up for the challenge, and I'm busy creating my list of books to select from when the time comes. Twelve selections will be from my bookclub, so they will be surprises and out of my control. The remaining 38 choices will be all mine!

Ann A (readerann) | 889 comments Good luck, Susan! I find that keeping track of what I read motivates me to read even more!

Vikki (silverstarz) Good luck. My 50 book challenge actually started as an idea on another forum, then I discovered you could set a year long challenge here, makes it easy to keep track of. I thought I might have struggled but I'm well on target for 50 now, even though I was about 3 books behind at one point!

Susan (susanthomas) | 257 comments I'm excited about it. It's going to be the one New Year's Resolution I'll enjoy keeping! So many books to choose from I feel like a kid in a candy store! This may all sound weird to some of you, but I've been devoted to getting my MA and PhD for the last decade and only in the last year have I allowed myself the occasional treat of a fiction book. I'm on my way now, though, and there's no turning back!

Kate (kateksh) | 741 comments Susan, that's fantastic!! I have three kids and a full-time job (the latter is more relaxing and I'm a lawyer!!) and I don't know where I'd be without leisure reading.

Susan (susanthomas) | 257 comments Reading fiction, and I prefer the 'Nordic Noir' genre, is like giving my brain a massage. I can feel the neurons recharging and the stress melting away. I'm following several discussions re Scandinavian crime fiction here on Goodreads and developing quite a list!
