Fifteen cars were smashed to bits during a race in Las Vegas today. One driver, Dan Wheldon, is dead. Three others are hospitalized.

Mr. Wheldon is the driver who earlier this year won the Indianapolis 500.

So odd how with some of these violent, disintegrating Formula 1 crashes the driver walks away with barely a scratch, in others they die. How sad for his wife and small children.

I can't bring myself to watch those races. It seems something very terrible almost always happens and that people were witness to the crash is just too gruesome for words. I think it's weird that they even posted a photograph of his car mid-explosion. WTF. He was just way too young to die. I felt sorry for his family. I also felt sorry for the fan (Ann Babenco) for whom he was racing for that $5mill bonus - I can't speak for her, but I know if I were in her shoes, I'd feel incredibly guilty and mournful.
