Lorraine (saanichlori) | 2589 comments The Murder of Roger Ackroyd - I just read this book - it's a very good one, you are guessing who done it all through the book, with a surprise ending. The narrator is the village doctor.

I have just read "Nemesis" with Miss Marple, and I would recommend reading "A Caribbean Mystery" first as a character from that one appears in Nemesis. I also enjoyed the Marple "4:50 from Paddington" after seeing it on Masterpiece Mystery.

"The Secret Adversary" was a freebee when I bought my Kobo, so will read that soon. I have bought "Poirot's Christmas" and "Peril at End House" and will read the later in November.

Wow Snarky, I wish I would have kept track.

Snarky (lilmssnarky) | 8 comments @carolyn i didn't write them all down, but i've read quite a few lately. to make my list, i looked at her bibliography on wikipedia.org

@lorraine - i like the marple movies but haven't read the marple books. The Caribbean Mystery sounds fun!

Pranaya (bookerina) | 5 comments I'd recommend A Murder is Announced and A Pocketful of Rye. They're Marple's best. I've read all the AC novels! Which did you like best so far?

message 6: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine (saanichlori) | 2589 comments I just finished "The A.B.C. Murders", an audio book read by Hugh Fraser. It was very good. Poirot receives a letter from a murderer stating that he will begin to kill people in alphabetical order, and taunting HP with "catch me if you can". I quite enjoyed it and recommend it.

Lorraine, I bet Hugh Fraser did an excellent job narrating.

Linda Gordon (linda_hengerer) | 1 comments I read so many of her books years ago; just coming back to her, and just finished Peril at End House (Hercule Poirot #8) by Agatha Christie . Enjoyed the story, and even looking for clues I still missed who the killer was.

He always does an excellent job - I've listened for several books that he narrated.

I bought this huge audiobook collection on CDs but it doesn't tell me who narrates just whether it's an audio play or straight narration. Crossing my fingers that I have him on at least one.

kento (daechwita) | 270 comments I wanted to read Peril at the End House, Three Act Tragedy, Third Girl,The Mysterious Affair at Styles, ABC Murders (I'm going to read it soon), and many more.

message 12: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca | 1 comments as someone who can find it hard to get stuck into a good book it's not often i find books like "confessions of a teenage drama queen" which I couldn't put down however this book might seem to dramatic for some but if you like following the lives of characters who are very dramatic and interesting then this is a great book.

My daughter watched the movie and enjoyed it. There's another book that's getting a lot of great reviews Beauty Queens Beauty Queens by Libba Bray . I put that on my library wish list.

I've been reading them off and on for years, that I've forgotten what I have and haven't read. On our books of the month, sometimes I'll start the book thinking I haven't read it and then about halfway through realize I had. Hopefully at the end of 7 years I can say I've read them all!

message 17: by Ellen (new)

Ellen (elliearcher) Like you, Carolyn, I've been reading Christie for so many years, I can't always remember what I've read.
I am wanting to read The Mystery of the Blue Train & Murder on the Links which I don't think I've read.

It doesn't help that they keep releasing the books under new names!

I know what you mean, I look up the books on wikipedia for the monthly BOM and they'll usually list one other title the book was published under but sometimes there are more than one. Like "And Then There Were None", I think that's like the 3rd title it was under. So confusing!

I liked the one with Mia Farrow too Heather. I thought she did an excellent job.

I was figuring that after we're through with her mysteries we could start on her alias books too, but that'll be 6 years down the road.

I too forget if I've read them before too and then about halfway through I'll figure out what's going on. I've been reading her stuff for about 30 years so I'll blame it on the length of time between readings.

That was a great one Heather.

I've heard that about the romance books, that they're as good. We'll see in 6 years, maybe we'll just go through all the books again.

message 22: by Ana (new)

Ana | 1 comments I think I have read most of AC's book except for a few odds and ends there like the Christmas book. Some I have read more than once!!! Aside from the 'classic' Christies that everyone loves I think my obscure favorites are The Hollow, Cards on the Table and Curtain.

Jill Hutchinson (bucs1960) I just got an AC book from our lending library that I had not read. It is:
The Harlequin Tea Set and Other Stories by Agatha Christie by Agatha Christie Agatha Christie

It is comprised of short stories and is really good......they are a little different from her usual works. I like it!!!

message 28: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. | 4766 comments Mod
It's not a murder mystery Jill?

message 29: by Jill (new)

Jill Hutchinson (bucs1960) Yes, most are murder mysteries but not your typical AC except for the Poirot and the Harley Quin.

I'd love to say at the end of the 7 years that I've read all her books but I have been skipping here and there, so I'll have to do catch up.

message 34: by Karen (new)

Karen I want to read all her books. I do not know how many I have read. Some twice, but some not at all. Maybe I have dine 40, maybe less.

message 35: by David (new)

David Zerangue (davidzerangue) I have only read (3) of her works: Cards on the Table, The Tuesday Club Murders, and Murder at the Vicarage. My goal is to read and collect them all (in hardback).

Bantam has fancy bound editions Daimen. You can find some of them in groups on Ebay. They ran about $15.00 per book in the 1990s so who knows how much they are now. I have about 25 of them and have those out in my living room.
