Any book you really can't stand or couldn't get into?

I can't really get into any Shakespeare but I might try in a few years.

message 2: by EJ (new)

EJ | 65 comments Twilight. Also half of Sara Dessen's books.

message 3: by Alex (last edited Oct 23, 2011 12:48PM) (new)

Alex (xandranaya3) | 19 comments I can't get into Shakespeare, too. Must be because if you force me to do something I won't like it xD We were made to do plays and reports on some of his stories.

... Would I be flamed if I said Twilight? I just can't get that vampires sparkle xD it bothers me too much.

message 4: by EJ (new)

EJ | 65 comments It's okay. I hate Twilight too. Vampires just shouldn't sparkle.

I read Twilight years ago before the films, so I didn't mind them, but I no if I went back to them now I wouldnt be able to get through them :/

message 6: by Alex (new)

Alex (xandranaya3) | 19 comments Lol, same here. The thing is I got hooked on Anne Rice's vampires from The Vampire Chronicles and I always thought that's how vampires should be, not sparkly things xD Twilight was too different for me, I guess. I didn't mind it at first, because I read it way before the movies, but after the movies came out the dislike got worse O.O

I'm not a big fan of the most recent Vampire Diaries books either, from what I remember up until The Reunion wasn't that bad but then they all went down hill :/

message 8: by Richard (new)

Richard (ddaythecannibal) Romeo and Juliet, Catcher in the Rye.... but the very worst is FRANKENSTEIN!!!!

message 9: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (melissa_94) | 124 comments Hereafter (Hereafter, #1) by Tara Hudson Has anyone read this? This was such a bad book! Slow, there was no story, the characters were empty, and it was really bad writing. I deffinatly do not recommend!

Lol, that was on my list until now. Thanks for the warning!!

Heather (goodreadscomheather-jane) | 78 comments I really didn't like: Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher

Just because i found her really selfish! Who would kill themselves then make a tape and decicate it to the people who were the 'reasons' you killed yourself?! What a selfish, ignorant, stupid, unrealistic person! Sorry! I'm okay now:D

What's that about? P.C Cast isn't my favourite anyway, I like House Of Night but it isn't as good as everyone makes out. It gets the same after a while :)

Exactly! I've only read up til Tempted but after what happened to Heath I couldn't really be bothered. I might try the series again, eventually :)

message 20: by Danna (new)

Danna I could not get into Dickens's stuff at all although I tries, and I loved Victor Hugo whose books are quite smiliar.
I did not like 'the reader' and some other common bestsellers like twilight and 'the time traveler's wife'

Alex is a Crazy Pony I totally despise The Mortal Instruments. And the Uglies series. The House Of Night Series wasn't very good. And Stargirl. Ugh. Twilight irritated me, but the later books weren't as awful.

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

braking dawe because i can read anything but it put me to sleep. i have been thinking about reading it.

I don't really like Sarah Dessen's book that much. :/

Alex is a Crazy Pony Yeah, they're all so similar. I like one of them, and that's it. The others are just different versions of the same person and story.

I agree one hundred percent.
What's the one you like?

Alex is a Crazy Pony The Truth About Forever.

Sαmαnthα (smyeres117) | 935 comments Mod
Yeah, that one seems to be the best. I haven't read it but I want to because that is the one that seems most liked.

Alex is a Crazy Pony It's good. And the main guy, Wes. *swoon*

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

Nice Alex.

I hated A Wrinkle In Time. It was so boring. I've only read one Sarah Dessen book, Dreamland, and I really liked it. But I'll have to try some of her other books to see if I agree with you guys. I really hate Twilight too. Not just cuz I'm a diehard HP fan, but cuz Cedric is a traitor!! No, the real reason is cuz Stephenie Meyer's writing doesn't interest me.

message 30: by Natalie (new)

Natalie | 2 comments Twilight. DEFANITLY

message 34: by Sayyeda (new)

Sayyeda (literaryhues) Twilight, Evernight Series, House of Night Series.

Melissa (melissa_94) | 124 comments Just read Crossed! Hated it, which was a shame as i enjoyed the first one. So excited to read this one when i finished the first.
But had no plot, and the characters were all the same. "/

Same, out of all books in the world, my class was stuck with that.

I think we watched the movie aswell but I seem to have blocked my memory with anything that concerns LOTF

Haha, me too. Only did it for a short while, but i was bored outta my head through all the lessons.
We also did Mice of Men, which was not as boring, but the book got on my nerves! :)

You got lucky with that one then! It was a terrible movie! ;)

message 46: by Erika (last edited Jan 14, 2012 08:34AM) (new)

Erika (livingforthebooks) I couldn't stand Life as We Knew it and Alice's Tulips
Also didn't like these books that we had to read for school Of Mice and Men, Autobiography of a Face, and The old man and the sea

message 47: by Tillieeeeee (new)

Tillieeeeee (tinyaustralian) Lord of the Flies, Fallen and Marked (House of Night series).

message 48: by Rebecca Jane (new)

Rebecca Jane (bec3sjhdbzljldsgwsm) Red Riding Hood was a let down :/ I really didn't like The Immortals series either. Vampire Diaries should've ended a while ago but she just keeps going, so now she's pretty much run in into the dirt. Love Story by Jennifer Echols was a let down too. I've read a couple of her other books and I really enjoyed them but this one seemed way too rushed and the characters were frustrating.

I 100% agree on everything you said, but Ive never read Love Story :)

message 50: by Emily (new)

Emily Finch (emilyfinch) Twilight most definitely, and a few books I get free on my phone. The newest vampire diaries bore me, they should have ended on the 4th book, the new ones are just rubbish.
