Cheryl (cherylllr) Good topic - I do know of some & I'll be back when I recall them. One for sure that would be better as a movie is Charles and Emma: The Darwins' Leap of Faith. Their life together had lots of drama, but the author wrote about it all too quietly.

Janice (jamasc) | 59921 comments I'd love to see Cathedral of the Sea as a movie.

American Gods and Anansi Boys would make great movies too.

Cecily | 576 comments Alastair Reynolds's books are quite cinematic and would make excellent sci fi films, though they are quite long, so it might be necessary to start with the shorter ones.

Michelle (lonelydoll21) | 84 comments In a similar vein to the question posed, I just watched "Never Let Me Go" based on the book of the same name. I was so glad it was made into a movie because it was one of those books I just couldn't get through. My mind just kept wandering as I was reading so I finally put it down. But it had all these accolades so I knew it must me good. The bit I did read, the movie followed quite well.

Sometimes I finish a really good book and hope that they DON'T make it into a movie. I loved the book so much and it evoked such vivid images in my mind that I feel that a movie just wouldn't be able to do it justice. Does that make sense?? For instance, although everyone I know that has seen The Help has raved about it, I just thought the book was wonderful on its own and I just don't need to see the movie.

Cecily | 576 comments I just read "Never Let Me Go", and I thought it was a a ridiculous story (my review is here: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...), so I won't bother with the film.

"The Help" on the other hand, was an unexpectedly good book (reviewed here: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...), which makes me differently cautious about seeing the film. However, as I only read the book because of recommendations and discussions here, and the consensus about the film is also favourable, I will try to see it, though I may wait for it to be on TV.

Cheryl (cherylllr) Oh definitely Michelle. A book that my imagination has been immersed in would be spoiled, for me, as a movie. I'd be all "No, that's not what he looked like! No, that's not how her voice sounded! No, the forest was not nearly so spooky!"

But yeah, a movie for a book I didn't really enjoy, but wanted to, I agree there. Minority Report and some others by Philip K. Dick make for great movies but confusing stories. So, I think I'd like to see The Man In the High Castle as a movie, because I haven't managed to read the acclaimed novel.

Janice (jamasc) | 59921 comments weird!! There must be a glitch. This is the 2nd time I've replied to a post and the book cover comes up incorrectly. I'm going to leave this post and report the problem to goodreads.

I did report it. There are quite a few reports of the same issue so hopefully they'll fix the problem.

Marren Everytime I read a book that I really enjoyed, I would wish that it would a movie. Some many movies out in the past few years are based on books(although they never stick to the script. Well that is expected if it is not a documentary).

Anyway, let me mention one book. 'A Gentle Feuding'

Janice (jamasc) | 59921 comments I haven't read A Gentle Feuding but it does look like it would make a good movie. Do you have any actors/actresses in mind to play the main characters?
