SciFi and Fantasy Book Club discussion

I can't remember the name of this book or book series.. I can only remember a small portion. Does anyone know what it is?

Here is what I remember:

There is a kid and one day he realizes he can create food, he discovers this when bologna/pastrami starts shooting out of his hands.. There is a scene where he covers the bathroom at school in meat and cheese and bread slices. He later learns this is a thing in his family and that generations have always made up new food dishes/recipes... Thats all I can remember.

Is this a real book? Did I just dream it up?

The book I think of now is definitly >Prince of thorns< from Mark Lawrence and second >shadows son< from Jon Sprunk - which is discussed in an other group ... They just keep lingering whatever I try to read now!
