David A. | 6 comments Hello,

My name is David A. Gibb and I just joined the group. I released my first true crime book, "Camouflaged Killer", two weeks ago (published by Berkley in the U.S. and distributed by Penguin Canada in the Great White North). It has also been published in Ireland and the U.K. as "Evil in Plain Sight". The book has been well received and I continue to receive "fan mail" on a daily basis - very cool for someone who was used to writing in the trenches and receiving little acknowledgment for his work!

The book details the sex offenses, rapes and murders committed by the commander of Canada's largest air force base, Colonel Russell Williams. He lived a double life, one as a caring and loving husband, respected officer, and helpful neighbor - and the other as a depraved sexual sadist. It's such a compelling story that the book has already been optioned for film.

Toward the end of the book, the psychology of this highly unusual offender is explored, with analysis provided by some of North America's leading experts. Some may find it interesting to draw their own conclusions as they read through the scenes of his crimes, and then compare to the expert analysis provided later in the book.

More details are available on my website at www.camouflagedkiller.com

I would be honored if you chose my book for your reading group, and would of course remain available to answer any questions, or address any comments, that you may have.

With warm regards,

David A. Gibb

Caroline (caro7) I will look out for this book, David. Thank you for telling us about it!

David A. | 6 comments Thank you Barbara and Caroline. The details are quite grisly, but there is a lot to be learned from this case. I'm sure you'll find the read both riveting and educational. Please be sure to send me your comments afterward.

All the best,

David

David A. | 6 comments Janet wrote: "didnt i see this documented on 48hr mystery?"

Yes, Janet, this case was featured on both 48 Hours and Dateline NBC much earlier this year. I met with their producers at the sentencing hearing in Belleville as they covered the story there.

Janet Moss | 4 comments How interesting...I will definitely be reading your book. I was very interested in the 48 Hour Mystery piece. I enjoy finding out why these predators do the things they do and your addition of psychological indicators will add to the book I'm sure!!

message 10: by Karen (new)

Karen (ocdofbooks) Thank you for letting us know about this book. I have read so many true crime books and I am continually looking for more to read all the time. I really appreciate the added stuff (psych eval) at the end...This will def be added to my TBR list!

message 11: by David (new)

David A. | 6 comments Thank you Karen and Janet.

At the back of the book I have included an author's note inviting readers to share their comments and feedback. So far I've received dozens of positive comments - including a doctor from Santa Barbara who is now including it as recommended reading for his Study of Murder college students.

I look forward to receiving your comments as well!

Thanks for your interest.

David

L.J. Monier Hi David,

My name is Lae. I'm a writer who specializes in psychological crime fiction.
I have a blog, just started, that focuses on true crime.
To make it more interesting to other writers, I have decided to interview other (true) crime authors.
Would you be interested in being interviewed or maybe even write a post on my blog if you wish (as long as it is on true crime or connected to crime)?
You can find me on facebook and twitter if you want to check me out first.
All the best with your book.

Laex

L.J. Monier Hello Stacey,

Thanks for requesting the link to LaeLand.

Here it is: http://laemonie.wordpress.com/

Happy reading and remember to comment. :)

Exciting new interviews with (true) crime authors are on the way, including the great Ernesto Mallo.

Also, if you are a true crime fan, you might want to be considered for an interview where we talked about your passion and how it started. Think about it.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Martin Smith | 1 comments I have done a lot of true crime reading but I am new to this group. Two of my favorite books in this genre are The Suspicions of Mr Whitcher and The Killer of Little Sheperds. I really like historical books that focus on investigatory procedures. Can anyone recommend further reading based on these preferences? Thanks...

Very early in her career, P.D. James co-wrote a historical true crime book: "The Maul and the Pear Tree: The Ratcliffe Highway Murders 1811."

For the S&V book, perhaps a more useful link (because it includes ratings, reviews, & lists) would be:

Thanks!

PAULYANNA INTERNATIONAL RENT-BOY

Discover what goes on behind the glassy eyed smile of a male street worker. A stereotypical cliché? Perhaps.

I attempt to knock away any preconceptions about damaged goods using plain spoken truth. No added glam or grit, this is my unapologetic story. A social history report. (of sorts). Regards PDL

Susan | 7 comments Hi folks, I'm a crime fiction author who also reads and writes about true crime. My blog, DARK DEEDS: Serial killers, stalkers and domestic homicides got so many hits I decided to compile them in an ebook. DARK DEEDS, Vol 1 and recently published Vol 2.

Although some of the cases are well known, others are not. Here's my methodology. I research the case and tell it from beginning to end. I include as much as I can about the victim(s) and the killer, including any early traumas and psychological hangups. Will trot over to the TC Author's folder and offer links to the books.
