Dana (erato) This thread is for comments on and the discussion of our 'Group Read' BOM.

November's book is Adam

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) Can someone tell me, do I need to have read the first 5 to understand the series? Should I be able to pick this one up and be able to understand?

Dana (erato) I found a good review of this book that voices much of what I would say to answer that question since the reviewer had not read the other books either.

Find the review here.

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) Awesome, the review has me hooked. I'll see if I can get my hands on a copy.

Dana (erato) If you have time to sneak one book in before you read Adam, I would read the first book in the series, Jacob.

This first book will introduce the world. Also the characters in 'Jacob' are the impetus for everything that happens/begins in Adam. Jacob is Adam's brother. Jabob's book covers prophecies, establishes the big/bad evil, etc. It would give you almost as much world and character info as all the others put together. Just a suggestion so that if you want some backstory, you are getting the most payoff per page. :)

Dana (erato) Well, I have to say that I really enjoyed this book. :)

I am a total lover of Jacqueline Frank's work and this book was no exception. This was a fatastic twist on the possibilities that Frank has set up in this world and the execution of it was wonderful. Overdone is something that I rarely enjoy and I think that just enough information was given to make this possibility realaistic.

I really liked Adam as a character but I wish that there was a little more about him as a person as opposed to how he fit into Demon culture and his importance. Some more interaction with Jacob would have been nice as well. And we didn't even get to see him meet/interact with Bella/Kane/Corrine, etc. Gah! That made me a little crazy but is also more for us to read about in later books.

The overall plot evolution in this series took a big turn in this book and I am eager to see where we are headed going forward as well as the identity of the woman fromt he future. Fun stuff!

Has anyone else had time to read it?

Barbara ★ | 3208 comments I started this morning and the first chapter made me cry. I cannot decide whether that is a good beginning or not.

Barbara ★ | 3208 comments I have to agree with Dana you didn't get enough background on Adam though I did like Jasmine for his mate. That pairing was so against his training/upbringing that it really threw him for a loop and her too for that matter. I liked Leah and can't wait to read more about her and the other young. And who is that girl from the future? inquiring minds want to know.

Dana (erato) That first chapter was a killer, wasn't it? It will be super exciting to see what Seth (Legna and Gideon's boy the child of Space) can do. I've been trying to figure out what a child of space would do for like over a year now and it is making me nuts! I tried to see if I could determine it from what that futuristic woman could do thinking she might exhibit the trait if she was from the future but no go there. Guess I will be squirming for the next book just like I was quirming for this one. :)
