Our November 2011 book is The Imperfectionists by Tom Rachman. We are meeting in Hingham the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Feel free to discuss your thoughts on the book in this thread whether or not you can attend the in person meeting.

I am going to read the book but will most likely not be able to attend the meeting...as I've been invited to a baby shower for one of my good friends on the same day in central MA.

How was book club? I have the book from the library but am currently torturing myself with The Kid so I haven't started yet.

I couldn't make it to the meeting either. But Nancy told me it was the usual suspects and that it was decided that our next meeting will be back at Barnes & Noble.

We talked about the intertwining of the individual stories and how the structure is similar to A Visit from the Goon Squad, how there was a sadness in each of the stories and the story of the Ott family newspaper told between the chapters.

Then we went off in a dozen different tangents and had brunch.

We definitely missed both of you!

The chapter about Hardy and her "stand up comedian" guy...oof. It was almost like screaming at a soap opera or an episode of Beverly Hills 9021. "What are you doing with that guy??? Why??? Run away!!"

I'm having the same feeling now reading about Winston (is that it?) And what's his face who's sponging off him. Maddening!
