Alondra Miller With this past year challenge; has any/everyone re-evaluated their challenge for the new year?? Anyone going higher or lower?? Or trying different genre's??

message 52: by Thom (new)

Thom Swennes (Yorrick) | 592 comments I will certainly increase my numbers. A challenge should have a significant difficulty level. I increased my goal during the spring but haven't really been challenged.

Susannah (susannaheanes) | 6 comments I'm doing okay. I really like reading but this fall has been so busy I'm a little bit behind.

I will be decreasing mine, though I felt like I completed 206 books in 2010 with no problem I'm obviously not going to make my goal of 200 this year. Plus next spring I will be taking Biology and Statistics classes and to my horror there will be little time for pleasure reading.

I'll make my goal, but I don't think I'll be taking the challenge again next year. As I said in a different thread, I found myself reading lighter books than I sometimes wanted just to keep me on pace to reach my goal. I was avoiding longer books and other books that may take longer to read because I didn't want to fall behind. the second half of this year I was reading mostly "beach books." I thought about lowering my goal, but that kind of defeats its purpose.

I'm looking forward to hitting my 50th book so that I can tackle some non-fiction or longer novels.

Hmm, I will probably go with a slightly higher number now that I'm used to reading so consistently. This year I started at 25 but had to lower my goal. I think 25 is in my reach if I can make 20 this year.

message 60: by Stefani (new)

Stefani Robinson (steffiebaby140) I am 9 books behind, but I know why...I've been working 60 hours a week, 6 days a week for the last 6 months. So that has hindered my reading a lot. I doubt I will make it for this year, but I think I will keep the same goal or slightly higher for next year.

Mariel (TheCrownedGoddessReads) (marieru) | 88 comments I made the 50 books goal, then updated to 70 I don't think I can make it so I'm downgrading to 65 hahaha
That's not cheating, right?

I am 6 books behind, but since it is Christmas I have been reading lots of children's books and shorter novels, so I will easily reach my goal. Maybe that's cheating in a way, but I don't think so. Neither do I think that a reasonable goal revision is cheating. Happy reading!

message 63: by Gemma (new)

Gemma (neverendingtbrgemma) | 10 comments i made my goal of 100 in October so moved it to 110 and completed that a couple of weeks ago haven't moved it up again as i know i wouldn't make it to 120 by the end of December.

books are books; i dont feel guilty. i love reading the Goosebumps series, and refuse to NOT read them because they're easy reads.

I made my goal. I am 51/50 :)

message 69: by Jeannie (new)

Jeannie | 18 comments I have 10 books to go, but with all of our traditional Christmas reads at our house, I should easily finish.

I didn't really get started until August so I am going to try for 125 in 2012. I already have a stack on my desk waiting for the new year.

message 70: by Erin (new)

Erin Germain (demiguise) | 97 comments I got behind over the summer, then picked up again once the season settled down. I hit my goal of 100 last week. I think next year I'll try for 125 or 150.

message 71: by Tee27 (new)

Tee27 I've also lagged behind because of other commitments. Now, I'm trying to catch up. (I have two more books to go--after finishing the one I'm currently reading.) I'm determined to make it even though I have so many other things to do during my mini-vacay.
