Karlene Staves (karlenestaves) OK, so I'm new-er to the Harry Potter book world. I didn't actually start reading the books until the last book came out, because I'm insanely impatient (I'm working on it, haha) and I knew that if I wasn't able to go from one book to the next immediately it would drive me nuts. I'm a pretty fast reader so I finished the series soon after the last book came out, and I'm dieing for the movies to continue....Anyways....A couple weekends ago I had the urge to watch all the movies. I think it stems from knowing that the movie WAS supposed to be coming out next month and I NEED my Harry Potter fix for the year. Ha Ha. But after I watched the movies, I just couldn't stop myself from picking up the books again. In two days I've read through the first book, and almost the entire second book, and that's while working a full time job (and unfortunately, I can't read at my desk)!! This is the second time for me to read through these books, and they still grip me as if it was the very first time I've ever picked them up!! It amazes me that I could be pulled in so easily a second time. I mean there's one, maybe two other books (not series) that I pick up every once and a while to read again, but even when I read those, I don't get pulled in to the book as deep. I read them again more for nostalgia, or just for the comfort of something I know....

I guess the whole purpose of this post was to just find out that I'm not the only one who is crazy enough to pick up the series AGAIN!! And also to find out if anyone else is as engulfed in the words on the page the second time around as I am.

The idea behind the series is just ingenious!! To take a child dreaming of something, anything other than what he has, and give him a dream world, it's every childs dream at some point!! I know that as a kid, I dreamed that someone would come and take me away from my miserable life, and when I read the books I go back to that place and it's like I'm being taken to Hogwarts and given my own fantasy life. Does that make sense?? Am I completely crazy?? I hope I'm not the only one....

Am I the only one??

Meghan | 686 comments I read the Harry Potter series three times a year. I can't help it. I love it! This year, I over did it. I read it five times. But I read tons of other stuff too. What would life be like without books?

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

My mom keeps telling me to STOP reading because I can never stop reading HP!

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

Same here but with my dad Ella.

RinaKat | 480 comments Once my cousin was over and every night we watched one of the HP movies, in order, from 1 to 4. We couldn't get to #5 because she had to leave. BUT she did come again later and my friends were over too and we watched it. (ever sense #4 for about, say, maybe...five weeks? well ever sense then, I was on HP mode. I drew pictures, wrote all the spells I knew down, I even wrote the script for the scene of Ron and Harry on the train! So, I think I was a little crazy at that time.)

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

Nice.

message 25: by RinaKat (new)

RinaKat | 480 comments I know. I can also do a really good Moaning Myrtle, Luna Lovegood (duh), and Oliver Wood impresson. too bad i can't say them over internet with sounds.

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

Yea. That would be hard. :)

message 27: by RinaKat (new)

RinaKat | 480 comments Unless there was some sort of microphone connection.
(honestly, I can't believe it is coming from my own mouth when I do it. It sounds soooo much like Myrtle!)

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

When I used to be new to HP I wrote down all of the spells I knew and practiced on my Malfoy poster.

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

message 30: by Meghan (new)

Meghan | 686 comments wow, :)
My dad shouted a Lumos at me and said, "your supposed to fall over."
I looked at him and said, "no, that's stupefy."
Everyone in my family started laughing at me.

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

LOL. One time..... Swish and flicker I can't think of it now... It'll come back to me later...

message 32: by Meghan (new)

Meghan | 686 comments I was at an amusement park with my friends and we decided we wanted to go on a ride that was on the other side of the park. I didn't really want to walk, so I grabbed my friends hands and spun in a circle, trying to apparate. They both stared at me like I was crazy. I said, "Shoot. I forgot. I don't have my wand with me." Then I remembered that I don't have a wand and burst out laughing.

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

Yep. It's true. My friends can testify to it. One of them might not though. She didn't like me as much after that.

message 39: by Tina (new)

Yeah, me too. I love them too much. Did I tell you guys I'm making a Harry Potter Dictionary with all of the HP words you could think of in it? So far I have 3 actual pages written down of words I can add, and I have written chapters A, B, and C.
