Or does it have to be uniform, ie. if i choose author, then all my entries have to be done with the author's name?
Combinations are fine, Lady Jaye. You can use any method you want with each phrase you spell out, but you can only use that book once per phrase. If you use the book as an author title, then you can't use the book again. Does that make sense?

I will post after I've thought about which ones I want to do.

Yearly Challenge
Duration: January 1-December 31, 2012
Description: Are you up for the challenge? How big a dangerous hero lover are you? Let’s find out. This year we’re going to shake things up. We are going to allow the readers to assemble their own Mega-Challenge, but we’ll give you a few options.
General Rules:
1. Books must be read between the time period of January 1st and December 31st of 2012. You can start as early as 12:00am on January 1st, and must be done by 11:59pm December 31st. A member can join the challenge at any point during the year.
2. The books you use do not have to be romance. If you read a fictional book of any kind with a hero that you feel is bad/edgy/dangerous enough to qualify, you can use them.
3. You can post your book selections at any time once the thread opens, and you may make changes up until the end of the year.
4. You cannot use a book more than once in a particular option. Books between options may overlap.
5. Please let the Challenge Coordinator know if you are signing up, and she will add you to the participant list. Please let the Coordinator know when you have finished your challenges for the year.
6. Participants can do as many of the options as they wish. If they decide to repeat challenges, that is fine, but they must use new books from those used in the first challenge. Please specify which challenges you are doing. Please repost your progress regularly.
Option A: Spell Out Your Love!
For this Option, you can choose to spell out a dangerous hero-related phrase using only books with dangerous hero characters. You can use:
1. The first or last name of the author
2. The first letter of the book title (not including A, An, And, or The)
3. If you choose your own acronym and it contains the letter X, the word can have X anywhere in its spelling. Other letters much be used in the specified manner.
4. You can even use the hero’s first or last name, but only once.
Here are your choices (you can do however many you like throughout the year).
Spelling Choices:
1. I BREAK FOR BAD BOYS! (16 letters)
2. HEARTBREAKERS AND LADYKILLERS (27 letters)
3. THEY ARE LETHAL TO LOVE (19 letters)
4. BAD BOYS ONLY NEED APPLY (20 letters)
5. YOU HAD ME WHEN YOU KICKED SOME BUTT (29 letters)
6. HE CAN KIDNAP ME ANY TIME (20 letters)
7. Pick your own acronym. It should be a minimum of 10 letters (but try to challenge yourself and go for twenty).
Option B: The Alphabet of Dangerous Hero-Osity
Spell out A to Z using the character names of only dangerous heroes from books you read in the year of 2012. You can use a minor or side character or even a villain. They must be bad/edgy/dangerous. You will have 26 different books when you are done. For the letter X, you can use any name that has X anywhere in its spelling. You can use the first, middle, last or an official nickname for the character used in the book.
Option C: The Most Dangerous Ones of All
For this challenge, all ten of your book choices must rate a 1 out of 10 (most dangerous hero of all) on the Dangerous Hero Scale. A number one has these qualities:
Completely lethal, seemingly remorseless, has no problem killing to get the job done, or killing as the job. Killing someone doesn't phase him. It's either him or them and don't let someone be after someone he loves. More or less amoral-except when it comes to things that have true value to him (like his heroine or his family). The mission is all that matters to him (at least until he falls for his heroine).
Option D: Dangerous Hero World-Tour
This is a hold-over from last years’ challenge. Compile a list of fifty heroes from fifty different books that take place in fifty different locations. You may use a country more than once. You may not use a United State more than once. For example: You can use two locations in France, but you cannot use Paris or New York state again after the first time (one city per state and one state per book). You can use all the fifty states of the US once. Which means that if you stay with only US set books, you can still have the potential for 50 different books, since there are 50 different states. So if you have a book set in one state, you're done with that state for the rest of the challenge. It might require a bit of research if you aren't familiar with the cities in the US, but you can use this website if you want to find out.
http://www.city-data.com/
You can use fictional/mythical/otherworldly locations. Please note if the location is mythical in your listing.
Option E: Dangerous Hero Scavenger Hunt
Read at least fifteen but no more than twenty different books with different dangerous heroes. Refer to the list below for ideas. If you come with another type, just list what kind you think he is and make sure he doesn’t fall into any of these categories.
1.Assassin (Contract Killer)
2.Modern Soldier (includes Mercenary)
3.Seducer/Heartbreaker/Womanizer
4.Stalkerific Hero
5.Tortured Hero (can be any of the above but major classification is tortured)
6.Criminal (Thief/Gangster/Illegal Enterprises)
7.Law Enforcement
8.Gunslinger/Outlaw/Pirate
9.Historical Warrior (Highlander/Knight/Native Warrior/Viking/Warlord/Soldier)
10.Spy
11.White Collar Raider (Business/Legal)
12.Blue Collar (Rough around the edges)
13.Fireman/Dangerous Job-holder
14.Paranormally Lethal/Immortal Warriors (Vampire, Demon, Werewolf, Gods, Shifter, Dark Fae)
15.Cowboy/Rancher/Rodeo
16.Bodyguards/Protectors
17.Sportsmen/Athletes/Bikers
18.Rakehell/Rake
19.Emperors/Kings/Dukes/Other Powerful and Titled Heroes
Option F: Set up your own challenge. Just make sure you follow the general rules above. You may use any past challenge categories, if you so wish. Try to challenge yourself in a way that will expand your dangerous hero reading. Maybe read a different genre with dangerous heroes, work your way through your reading pile, start and finish a new series, read as many dangerous hero books as your age.
Any questions???? I hope you decide to join the fun!
