Until very recently, I was a resident of Flushing, Queens, and absolutely loved to spend time at Flushing Library. My idea of a perfect evening was grabbing dinner at the pho place across the street and then spending a few hours browsing the library.
It was while living in Flushing that I wrote my collection of poems, SIX RIVERS, which was published by New York Quarterly Books this past year. SIX RIVERS includes many poems inspired by living and working in Flushing, including a riff on the Queens Botanical Garden (another of my favorite haunts!).
The book has been praised by reviewers across the country, from the Minneapolis Star Tribune to the Adirondack Review, for its "dark ironical humor," its "accessible language," and its surprising appeal to people who are "reluctant to read poetry because they 'just don't get it.'"
