Very true. Spent a month with my mom on a tiny canal in Mexico right on the ocean and it was splendid. Well, except for the crabs. Them things were evil. Was a tiny village and no one spoke English. It was Heavenly.TPBM has not been on a vacation in the last 12 months.
Actually went on vacation over spring break. It was a mini-vaca but one nonetheless. TPBM is planning on buying a new car.

Try Perfume: The Story of a Murderer Although it is not a romance as such, but it is really good and might meet your needs.
